Question 1 Day Acuvue Moist vs Acuvue Oasys

I have had a really hard time finding contacts that are comfortable. I have dry eyes and GPC. I am now trying 1 Day Acuvue Moist and it is comfortable in one eye, but not the other. Why would that be? Also, would Acuvue Oasys be a better choice if I can figure out why the left one is not comfortable? They seem pretty similar to me at first glance. Also, would a -1.25 vs a -1.50 prescription make a significant difference to comfort or vision?

Thanks for your help.

Hmmm, have you seen your optician? That's really puzzling. I would say you're just not used to the the lens in the other eye and it will come to pass, but check with the Doc.

When I first got contact lenses I was fitted with acuvue oasys and then I was given 1-Day Acuvue Moist as the optician thought a daily disposable would work better for me. I must say I found the acuvue oasis more comfortable than the 1-day moist, and when I got a sample for the one day Ciba dailies with aquacomfort plus I was a convert to those and I am completely happy with them. Every one is different though and what is most comfortable for one might not be for another so I would say ask your eye doctor if you may try a few other brands until you find the ones you like best.

1-Day Acuvue Moist are the new daily disposable contact lenses from Johnson & Johnson. Designed to help your eyes stay moist and fresh all day
1-Day Acuvue Moist incorporate a new technology to create a silky smooth moisture cushion throughout the lens. These lenses are tinted for ease of handling and will not change the color of your eye. The tint is simply designed to facilitate locating the contact lenses in solution. They also contain an inside-out "123" indicator to help ensure proper application/insertion....

1-Day Acuvue Moist is made up of copolymer (galyfilcon A), where as Acuvue oasys is made up of silicon hydrogel (senofilcon A)
Both lenses show very impressive technical parameters. As most Acuvue products, these 2 flagship products come with first class UV blocking and convenience features such as inside-out-mark and visibility tint.

However, the younger Acuvue Oasys provides some significant improvements over Acuvue Advance. The much higher oxygen permeability of Acuvue Oasys should provide patients with improved wearing comfort. In addition Oasys shows a more flexible replacement schedule as patients can wear the lens up to 6 consecutive days and nights.

On the other side, Acuvue Advance comes with a much lower price tag - typical online retail prices indicate that Acuvue Advance is up to 40% cheaper than Oasys....

If you order from lens.com by clicking on the big red rectangle up at the top of this page, they will give you a mail-in rebate, which will bring your final cost to about $20 a box for Acuvue Oasys.

For 1 Day Acuvue Moist your price will be also about twenty bucks a box after rebate.

If by "grade" you mean "prescription" mine hasn't changed in two years. Sometimes your eyes stabilize and you can keep the same prescription for a period of time, but then when you get to be forty presbyopia sets in and you start asking about bifocals.
Still, you should get your eyes checked every twelve months. So everyone raise your right hand and repeat after me. "I (state your name) do solemnly swear to get my eyes examined by a qualified eye doctor every year."

Good. Hands down. Don't you feel better now?
