Default 1 Day Accuvue Moist is Like a Bandage

I read someplace that Acuvue Moist contact lenses can help your eyes feel "wetter" because they act as a bandage and hold the moisture in.

Any comments?

Yeah, they are like a bandage, if you want to cut off virtually all oxygen to your cornea. The ONLY approved bandage lenses from the FDA are Night & Day and OASYS. I prefer the Night & Day due to less deposits than what I have experienced with OASYS.

Let's be fair here, fschultz4is. Some contact lenses are more oxygen permeable than others, but even the worst oxygen transmitters can hardly be said to "cut off virtually all oxygen to your cornea." Your eyes wouldn't last five minutes with "virtually all" of the oxygen blocked. contacts like that would never sell and would probably be illegal.

I'm glad you like the Night & Day contacts.

Default Acuvue Moist like bandage

Yes, the material in Acuvue 1 Day moist, etafilcon A, similar to the other daily lens materials are considered like "bandage" because the material is like wearing saran wrap on your eyes. It doesn't cut off oxygen supply if you're wearing them correctly for during the day and then throw them away after 12 hours. If you SLEEP in them however, that is extremely dangerous for your vision and the oxygen supply to the cornea and your vision can actually become worse. There is a diagnosis called neovascularization you can look it up and read more about i!!

How interesting. I didn't know that actually.

Yeah, sleeping with them couldn't be recommended ever.

That's just what I was asking about, dedekong. How these contact lenses feel when they're being worn correctly per your doctor's instructions. I never said anything about wearing them at night.

Sometimes these threads are like a game of "telephone". One person gets it wrong and soon everyone is responding to that instead of the original question.

So that's why that actor/singer calls himself "Mos Def." His real name is Dante Terrell Smith-Bey. I like that better.

Says here that Mr. Def performs in the genres of "hip hop" and "conscious hip hop", which means that much of that stuff is unconscious.

I found this definition of neovascularization: "Neovascularization is a condition of the cornea where blood vessels start to grow into the otherwise clear and translucent cornea. A common cause is anoxia - lack of oxygen from wearing contact lenses that do not breathe."

These new blood vessels grow across your corneas and never go away. Even when your eye start getting enough oxygen, blood no longer flows through the vessels, but the blood vessels don't disappear.

Make sure you follow your eye doctor's instructions, especially when he or she tells you when to take your contacts out.
