Default Getting Over the Initial Sting

When you first start wearing 1-Day Acuvue Moist contacts, you will probably feel a little sting. How long did it take before you stopped feeling it? Did it ever get to the point where you could put in your contacts with no pain at all?

"Osmolarity." I can honestly say I've never seen that word before. Does that have something to do with how salty the solution is?
Thanks for answering my question, Rossi. How did you find it? Have you posted here on Lens 101 before?

Yes its how salty the solution is, hence why salt water stings your eyes.

I've just finished a Phd on biomaterials with contact lens as the main focus so i know a fair amount about them,

no i've just started posting here but obviously i can not post all that i know about certain products as most things are confidential but in public domain i can

Welcome to Lens 101, Rossi. We could really use your expertise around here. Feel free to look around and see if there are any other questions you can answer. Go nuts and use words like "osmolarity" any time you like.

Pardon me for asking, but wouldn't the correct word to describe saltiness be "salinity"?

You're probably right, but please don't use the big PhD words to tell me why "osmolarity" is a better word that "salinity."

I know what you mean, eyecaramba. I found this definition for "osmolarity":

"Osmolarity is the measure of solute concentration, defined as the number of osmoles of solute per liter of solution."

For "salinity" I found "The quality of being saline; The concentration of salt in a solution." Also: "brininess: the relative proportion of salt in a solution "

So "salinity" and "brininess" has to do with salt specifically while "osmolarity" is a more general term. So there.
