What are the advantages and disadvantages of using 1-Day Acuvue in comparision with other brands?
Why do some patients prefer daily use contacts to longer use contacts? What is the typical monthly cost of 1-Day Acuvue contact lenses? |

Welcome to Lens 101. Are you new to the forum? To answer your questions, I can't really give you a comparison with other brands, because I've never tried anything else, so hopefully someone else will see this and be able to answer that question for you. As far as the advantages of one-day contact lenses, the biggest one in my mind is the fact that you don't have to worry about cleaning solutions. You wear them once, throw them away, then put in a fresh new pair each day. There's no buildup of impurities on your contacts, and so they are better then like new each day, they ARE new. Now with the cost, that will depend on where you get them. My suggestion would be to shop around on line and look for the middle price range. You probably don't want to go with the ones that are the cheapest, because they may lack quality. Another thing you may want to try is to ask around among your contact-lens-wearing friends. Well, I hope that was helpful to you. KSCbase. |

I have to agree the benefit of 1-Day Acuvue lenses is you don't have to worry about cleaning them. I've done the math and it appears there isn't much cost difference between 1-Day Acuvue and extended wear contact lenses.

Not that I'm doubting you, mind you. I just want to see the steps. |

J&J's 1st daily disposable cosmetic contact lens designed to enhance the beauty of eyes in a subtle and natural way.
Makes the eyes look bigger, brighter and more beautiful so naturally that nobody will know your secret. Features a unique and defined dark ring that enhances and darkens the iris (the coloured part of the eye) thereby making the eyes bigger, brighter and better defined. haha got this quote from my-contactlens.com |

I think most people like the daily disposable contact lenses such as 1-Day Acuvue because there's little risk of infection or damage from over-wearing them.

So do those ten posts answer your questions to your satisfaction, sarikasap?

Would anyone else care to show how to figure out how the cost of 1-day disposable contacts compare to other lenses? |

Don't look at me. I'm lousy at math. I even have someone balance my checkbook for me.

Acuvue oasys(bi-weekly) $17 for 6 lens. This lasts for 1 1/2 month. So for a year it costs $136. B%L purevusion(monthly) $29 for 6 lens i.e for 3 months. So for a year it costs $116. Even after including the price of the solution its way too costlier than 1 day acuvue. Please correct me if i am wrong. |

What a concept. You buy some contact lenses, send in a coupon and you get a good chunk of your money back. Check out this link for more details: http://www.lens.com/contact-lenses/lens640.asp |

Okay, I'm surprised no one has asked you this yet, so I'm going to do it. If daily disposable contacts are so great, how come you wear monthly contacts?

It's been almost five months now. You must have asked a really tough question, Eyeofharmony!

Psimonk said "that would be really great for some people." Evidently psimonk is not "some people."

I figured these lenses were costing me around $30 a month...or a buck a day back when I wore them in the late 90's. I gave them up. Even though they're super convenient...I didn't want to pay that much, and they didn't give me sharp enough vision either. I can see they would be great for traveling though. Now I wear PMMA hard lenses.

It seems that the majority of contact lens wearers prefer to use the soft lenses. You seem to . . . well . . . "luv pmma lenses." Do you personally know other people that prefer to wear PMMA contact lenses over soft contact lenses? Does the trait run in your family? |

I also believe that hard lenses have been given bad press over the last 30 years. People think it's like putting shards of glass in your eye, and that it's totally uncomfortable, which is not true. There's alot of negative publicity about PMMA lenses, and I don't know why. They sure work for me. |

I'll just call it fair and square if somebody can use my information. I'm just trying to let people know that hard lenses are still available, and hard lens wearers are still around. If you might be interested in hard lenses, you'll probably have to request your eye doctor to fit you with them, because most will go with either soft, or RGP lenses.....new technology haha. |

As far as how 1 Day Acuvue compared with other 1 day lenses, I wouldn't know about that. Hopefully another member can help in that area. |
