I would say the Hydraclear is really good for oxygen. Could you be a bit more specific though? oxygen is a major component in air and water, what are you going for? Wet or Dry?

I agree with psimonk. Hydraclear is really good for letting your eyes breathe.

Psimonk's got it. Some people have a problem wearing certain contact lenses because they don't let their eyes "breathe." I want to know which lenses are less likely to suffocate your eyes.

i guess every eyes have its own compatibility..i cant really pin point or specify what is good and what is not unless i have tried it all(especially on the suffocating issue)which of course is not possible since we have its own unique problem my prescribed lens will not work for you same with your lens as well as with the others will not work for me too.. i hope that it helps..

I'd try Acuvue Advance with Hydraclear - I think they were made with the idea of wearing them all day long.

I think the last few hours of the day is when you really find out which lenses perform better.

Default 1-Day Acuvue or Acuvue 2

Okay, I've gone away from this thread and come back to it, and it seems very strange that I asked about the relative breatheablility of 1-Day Acuvue and Acuvue 2 contact lenses, and everyone keeps saying "hydraclear." Which one is that?

Even I would go with Hydraclear for that situation. But if the choice is only between 1-Day Acuvue and Acuvue 2, my choice would be 1-Day Acuvue.

Right. I think everyone really have different conditions in their eyes and not because one lens makes your eyes breathe easier means that it will do the same with the others.

I wish I could try that too but I'm not yet really allowed to wear advance lenses for long so far.

Default No, Not Hydraclear

Hydraclear is not a brand of contact lenses, it's a material that some contacts are made of. So can someone please answer this question about the most breathable contact lenses with a brand name and not a material? It's like asking "which car get the best gas mileage?" and everyone keeps saying "fiberglass."

"Not allowed?" By whom? Your parents or your eye doctor?

Yes, thank you for bringing this up, Privateyes. I'm looking for a brand name, not an ingredient. Can some one tell me which brand they like for the best oxygen circulation?

Default What about the Dk?

Isn't anyone going to mention Dk/t? Isn't that the measurement used for oxygen permeability?

Default Silicone Hyrogel Has the Best Breathability

I found a study on line that concluded that the contact lenses that have the best oxygen permeability are the silicone hydrogel contact lenses. Examples of these would be Night & Day by CIBA Vision, and PureVision from Bausch & Lomb, which are monthly contact lenses, Acuvue Oasys from Johnson and Johnson, O2Optix and AirOptix from CIBA Vision, and CooperVision's Biofinity which are approved for overnight wear of six nights consecutively. Acuvue Advance and CooperVision's Avaira are approved for daily wear only.

My thanks to allaboutvision.com for providing me with those brand names.
