Default 1 day acuvue contact lens help

I just got my 1 day acuvue contacts and I was wondering if I can wear them longer than a day. I was reading an article that said I could but I'm not so sure. My optometrist said that it would be a bad idea, but I'm sure he isn't going to take any chances.

Why take the risk of damaging your eyes specially since your optometrist said that it would be a bad idea...

I certainly would not recommend it. They are not meant to be worn more than one day. You can get alsorts of dirt and bacteria on them when you are handling them, so it is better to throw tham away rather than re-use.

I wear mine for more than a day and I have never had any problems but all eyes are different and you should follow the guid lines set out for them.

Only if you have an extra set of eyeballs around in case they damage your eyes from extended use.

I wouldn't say it is a good idea to wear them longer than what the label entails. They expire after 24 hours, so you probably should take them out after 16-18 hours at the maximum limit.

Thanks psimonk. I'm just curious. Why 16-18 hours? Why not 12 or 24?

Not so fast. Tell us what we'll find at the site. Does it really have information about how long to wear contact lenses, or are you just trying to make a sale?

I went to that site and it looks like it's more than just a place to buy contact lenses. There are a few articles there, but they have titles like "Wear Violet Contact Lenses to Change Your Look" and "Cheap Violet Contact Lenses." The articles themselves are written in "ESL" style.
