It does sound like something isn't right about your prescription if you are having this much trouble.
There is a big difference in my prescriptions but my eyes automatically without my even thinking about it pick the right spot on my glasses to look through for any given situation.
It wouldn't hurt to just call and ask if you should be having these kind of problems with your bifocals if you can't spend the money to go into the drs.
