You are absolutely right. This lack of ability to change focus from distant objects to near one is known as presbyopia which normally starts around 40 years old. So presbyopes (people with presbyopia) usually require correction in both distance and near vision. And this is where bifocal glasses or contact lenses come in. It takes may take more time to get used to bifocal contact lenses as compared to glasses as the lenses sit on top of the cornea.
