How do you know you need a 9.4 base curve? Whatever doctor determined that should be willing and able to try and fit you. The doctor should have some kind of card or guide which tells him which lenses are available in what paramters.

Cibasoft (vial) goes up to a 9.2 base curve.
02 Optix Custom goes up to a 9.2 base curve.
I didn't check all lenses, a number of lenses (including some of the Acuvue's)are available at a 9.0 base curve.

edited to add this post is in the daily lens section 1 day acuvue is available with a 9.0 base curve

I don't know of any lenses that go up to a 9.4. Your doctor will have to decide if it's appropriate to try a lens with a different base curve.

Most vision plans are either a discount only plan or give you a dollar allowance toward the purchase of contacts. Patients who want (or need) more expensive lenses pay the difference. An exception might be if a contact lens was required as the result of something like catarac surgury.

You can't get contacts without a script. Let your doctor earn his fee. Nothing wrong with trying some trial lenses and see what works.
