These contacts are very comfortable, they are soft, yes they will tear easily and in the beginning, I tore some. Once you do get them in your eye, it does'nt even feel like you have them there. Since they are a multi focal lense, one of visions will be affected. It will either be your reading , or distance. My eye doctor told me the same thing. Apparantly, because of the curve, they can't get them to the degree of bifocal glasses. What I was told told, is that the eye doctor can make the script for say distance stronger, and you could use a pair of drug store readers for reading. To be truthfully honest though, since wearing them, I have not had any probs. Hope this helps.
