Well, I'm new here and looking some info the other way around since I have Oasys but am trying some colored lenses. Anyways, your doctor is not trying to scam you or anything. There's a huge difference between the conventional soft contacts (like Acuvue 2) and the silicone hydrogels (like Oasys). The Oasys allow far, far more oxygen through to your eye resulting in far less risk of corneal neovascularization, corneal swelling, and myopic regression. That is, they're safer.
