I posted this in another area but am hoping to get maybe some more responses from this thread. I am very concerned when reading that Mgash tore their cornea. Is that directly related to these particular lenses? Can we get details of what happened? I have a friend here in Panama that was blinded (one eye) due to infection from contac lenses and know we need to be very careful concerning our eyes. Shared first hand information is the key to Eye Health and good vision.
I was using mono vision contacts and loved them for snorkeling! But, I could not see anything in the middle-I could see very close and very far but mid vision was nil. I would have to slump and lean in to read the computer.
With my new Pure Vision Multi Focals- I can read from any distance as long as there is enough light-it takes a few seconds to adjust but I can see everything at every distance-it is so nice to be able to see again. I did notice after snorkeling (I have no problem with contacs in salt water as it is a natural saline solution) that when I got into a fresh water shower-the contacs became very irritating and seemed to stick to my eye. I noticed this with both the monovision (Acuvue) and the Bausch & Lomb Pure Vision Multi Focal. It seems worse with these new Pure Vision contacs but I have only snorkeled in them once. In fact, this is only my second day wearing them. Everything outside was crisp and clear. I saw birds I have never seen, etc. I highly recommend these contacs to everyone who wants to see at every level. I live on an island with no cars so cannot say anything about driving or night use as that is yet to be tried but I will report back when I do. I am interested in feedback on how others deal with fresh water showering or swimming in a pool. Should I just take them off and have little vision for these activities?
Hi love multi focals. Where are you from?
I'm glad your PureVision Multi-Focal lenses work so well for you. I'm surprised you can go snorkeling in them because I always thought ocean water was a lot more salty than saline solution. According to good ol' Wikipedia, "the vast majority of seawater has a salinity of between 3.1% and 3.8%."
However, I was not able to find the salinity of contact lens solutions. Can someone help me out, here?
