Here's a thought. If you want to find out just how easy or difficult it is to break a lens, why not try with a used, discarded one, fresh out of your eye?

Then you can pull it and mangle it between your fingers and get a feel for how tough it is (or isn't) without the risk of getting any of it stuck in your eye.
