To answer your questions, I can't really give you a comparison with other brands, because I've never tried anything else, so hopefully someone else will see this and be able to answer that question for you.

As far as the advantages of one-day contact lenses, the biggest one in my mind is the fact that you don't have to worry about cleaning solutions. You wear them once, throw them away, then put in a fresh new pair each day. There's no buildup of impurities on your contacts, and so they are better then like new each day, they ARE new.

Now with the cost, that will depend on where you get them. My suggestion would be to shop around on line and look for the middle price range. You probably don't want to go with the ones that are the cheapest, because they may lack quality.
Another thing you may want to try is to ask around among your contact-lens-wearing friends.
