I used to have
contacts only for distance and used reading
glasses for up close viewing but this is a problem for things like driving where I also need to see the dashboard. So recently I tried multifocal contacts with add low for up close viewing. Yes it gave up some of my distance clarity and the up close was still kind of fuzzy. I certainly couldn't read fine print. So recently I tried the contacts with an add high, reading was clear but anything farther than 3 feet away got fuzzy. I even tried an add high with no distance correction in my left eye and an add high with distance correction in my right eye. I would think since they both are add high the up close viewing would be the same but they aren't. My left eye is perfectly clear for near but my right eye is a tad fuzzy with near but it has great distance viewing.
I hate the compromise of muli focal contacts. It still seems despite their advertising claims of being able to see far, medium and near, this is just not the truth! To get one you give up some of the other. If I want to be able to read with contacts then I won't be able to drive. And if I want to drive then I can't read.
