Like others have said, it would depend on the age of the child. As long as he or she is at least old enough to go to school and take care of themselves there, it's probably safe for them to wear contacts. As far as being practical for a child, some of the other factors mentioned below such as responsibility and good hygiene habits would come into a play. Giving contacts to a child may not be wise, but it's probably safe.
