Default Emerald Green on Green/Hazel Eyes

Hi, all!

I took a few pictures of my eyes in direct sunlight with an Emerald Green lens in one eye. They make my eyes darker but I think they look more nifty being so vibrant green in bright light!

Each picture has one eye in the shadow and one in the sunlight. I wasn't able to get both eyes in the sunlight due to the angles of the sun coming into my house at the time.

The first picture is showing the Emerald Green lens in sunlight and my natural eye color in the shadow. The only reason I posted this one in addition to the third picture is because I thought the shadows from my eyelashes on my iris looked really neat!

The second picture is showing my natural eye color in the sunlight and the Emerald Green lens in the shadow.

Third picture is basically the same as teh first picture but with less eyelash shadows on my iris.

Opinions?!

Wow, those are cool pictures! I like how one eye is in sunlight so we can compare the colors.

Thanks! I tried! I still need to go around and ask more real people in person for opinions before I'm satisfied. I'm still not convinced that what my camera captures is what the human eye perceives in real life. I think my camera may enhance the lightness a bit.

What does the mirror tell you? Have you looked in a morror in sunlight or even close to a window without direct sunlight? I love the green in shadow or light in your pics. Your natural eye color is really beautiful too.

Thanks!

I've used a mirror before, but it's harder to tell in the sunlight because my pupils get so small that it's hard to make out color in anything except what's outside the window. But I've tried shielding one eye so that eye can look at the eye in the sun, which helps a little. The yellowish sunlight makes my eyes look more gold/yellow than they do in a room with bright white lighting.

I'll attach an image that matches pretty closely to what I see in my natural eye color in the mirror in a well lit room out of any sunlight.

I like the color of those contacts, jawsome, but how often do you think people will be seeing those lenses if full sunlight? I think the best way to judge contact lens color is indoor lighting, unless you spend quite a lot of time outdoors and you live in a place that's sunny on most days. I'm looking forward to seeing the next set of pictures. I'd like to suggest also that we get a look at your face. I like to see how the contact lenses make a person's face look, and not just their eyes.

I agree about judging how you look by indoor lighting or indirect sunlight.

I think your natural color is still pretty amazing without the sunlight. So do you like the green contacts?

I think I wore colored contacts like I wear makeup. They're fun!

You're probably right, but I couldn't find any contact lenses called "Impressions" on Lens.com. Is that all they're called? They're not called "Impressions Colors" or something?

With the contacts in indoor lighting my eyes look dark green, dark aqua or dark blue depending on who I ask. It's a nice change from the typical dark brown answer that I usually get. I'm glad that my eyes are light enough that I can still get a noticeable change indoors from these contacts. Now I can have eyes of all sorts of varieties depending on the viewers' perception, that also look emerald green in the bright light!

I spend a lot of my time outside, so a lot of people would see my eyes in direct lighting.

Regarding the full face shot... I'm not comfortable posting a full face pic here but if you really want to see one I can email it to you if you PM me your email address!

Thanks again about my natural color! I do like the green contacts a lot! I just took a couple macro shots in indirect indoor lighting and I really love the color. It's so awesome! I'll post a macro pic of my natural iris color in natural indoor lighting and then one with the contact so you guys can compare the effect of the contact tint!

The difference is very subtle in those pictures. Is that the way you like it?

Yes. I didn't want much of a change, just something to make my eyes actually look their primary color when indoors rather than appearing dark brown.

Outside in daylight the effect is not-so-subtle according to a few of my friends who were used to looking at me before I got into color changing contacts. They actually make my eyes look emerald green. Where without the contact they're like a yellow/gold green.

Good, I'm glad you weren't disappointed when I didn't notice a radical change in your eye color.

Thanks for the tip but as far as I know those contacts are only available in the opaque variety. I'd much rather not cover up my natural iris with any printed pattern. The opaque contacts create too much of an unnatural 'sticker effect' where it looks like the lens color is printed right onto the surface of the eye. With these Emerald Green lenses the eyes still have depth.

Apparently luvbostonxo2 thinks that you would still look "awesome," even with the "sticker effect."

I might have been willing to make an exception if he had said I'd look jawsome!

I'm still not sure if they work... they may be too unrealistic to be a subtle change. Tomorrow I'm going to a farm up north to pick out pumpkins for Halloween and there will be a lot of people there so I'll talk to them normally and see if I get funny looks or any questions about my eye color. If nothing after awhile I'll just start asking people again! haha

That sounds like a pretty good test. I hope you get some reliable results from it--and a good pumpkin.

We were running late... Slept in. And I didn't have time to put in the contacts. The farm was fun, though!

Just gonna throw this out there... Anyone here live in the central Maryland area? And, if so, willing to meet up to give some opinions?

I asked a cashier today in a semi-well lit store and he said dark green from about 4 feet away so that's promising. Normally in that light from that far away the answer would be dark brown. Like a chocolate brown.

I'm nowhere near Maryland, but I find it interesting that you would suggest a meeting. I'd be too scared.

I've been communicating with random people online long enough to get a sense for when they can be trusted. Of course, I'd set up the meeting in the middle of the day in a very busy public place, just in case!

So you must live in VA, then (since you said UP to MD ) I'm about 30 minutes away from Annapolis.

My contacts shipped almost from as far west as Cali. I forgot what state exactly, though. But it still only took 4 business days. So you should have them by Friday at the latest, I hope! Assuming FexEx picks them up quickly! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Oh, yeah, sorry thought I'd already said I live in VA. :P I'm such a dork. You're so lucky! I'd love to live near Annapolis!

Thanks! Yeah I'm thinking by Friday. Don't you just hate when you keep checking the status of a package and it still says a lable has been created but they don't have it yet?
