Ocean Blue Enhancers for Sensitive Eyes?

If you have eyes that are sensitive to bright light, would it help to get dark colored contacts like Ocean Blue?

I'm the guy who started this thread by asking a question about contact lenses and light sensitivity, then Boomika came along and asked another question, and now everyone's responding to his/her question and I've been forgotten. Are we all a bunch of children with Attention Deficit Disorder here?

To all of you who are thinking of posting a question, you are more than welcome to do so, but please start a new thread, like JesterHester suggested. Don't answer a question with a question.

To start a new thread, just go to the proper brand, in this case, Acuvue 2 Colours - Enhancers, then just click on "New Thread." Simple.

To answer your question, no, a tint over the contact will not make you less sensitive to light. No matter the contact, usually sensitivity to light is a common side-effect, even if the lenses have U.V. protection. It is normal to be more sensitive to light with contacts, I believe it has something to do with the lens magnifying the light, but I could be wrong. All the enhancer does is give a slightly different color tint to your vision, and make your eyes a slightly different color.

eh, just from experience. I wear contacts with a tint over them, and I'm just as sensitive to light as with clear contacts. Plus my doctor told me it's normal to be more sensitive to light when you wear contacts, even if you have colored ones or UV protection in them.

Interesting. I wonder why that is? I would think that colored contact lenses tend to shade your eyes a bit, unless it's just the irritation of having something touching your eyes that makes them more sensitive to bright light.

Hm, you know, it's strange, I can't find anything online about it. My doctor made a huge deal about me wearing sunglasses and protecting my eyes b/c contact lenses magnify light or something and can make me more sensitive to light, even when they have U.V. protection. (The first contacts I ordered were colored ones). 0_o

Then again I got opaque colored contacts, so the contacts have no color around the pupil, where light comes in (if they had color there I wouldn't be able to see lol). Tinted contacts (translucent color) that cover the pupil hole I guess could help with light sensitivity? ...though, I recently bought Illusions contacts which are opaque around the pupil and tinted over the pupil, and they still make me sensitive to light. So idk. Maybe it's a personal preference thing.

I think Jesterhester might be on to something. Maybe it's the fact that having contact lenses on your eyes makes them more sensitive period.

I'm a little confused about your use of the word "opaque." Opaque is the opposite of transparent, isn't it? A window is transparent and a brick wall is opaque, right?

yep, opaque contacts are solid color, you can't see through it. Those are used for brown eyes like mine, and usually those contacts leave a hole for your pupil (so you can see). Tinted contacts have like, translucent color that you can still see through like a tinted window. I have contacts that are tinted over the pupil and opaque around the pupil, if that makes any sense. Tinted windows block out light, so maybe tinted contacts do the same thing? but I agree with Jesterhester, b/c my own personal experience is my eyes were still sensitive to light, whether they were just opaque or tinted, too.

So you're saying that your contacts are completely covered in color, it's just that the color is a lot lighter over the pupil window, is that right?

Yes, if you hold my Illusions Soft Blue contact on the tip of your finger, the whole lens will look blue. However, it's just tinted blue over the pupil while a solid blue color is around the pupil. That way I can still see (though with a slightly bluish tint lol) =)

My acuvues just have solid blue around the pupil, and just a hole for your pupil, no tint. =T

Well that doesn't sound right. I think the pupil hole in your contact lenses should be clear like a normal healthy pupil.
