Default Acuvue 2 Colours Opaque Go Off Center

Has anyone had a problem with Acuvue 2 Colours Opaque going off-center so that some of the colored part covers your pupil and blurs your vision? Is something that's a problem with Acuvue 2 Colours or is it just that this de-centering is a sign of the wrong sized contact lens?

Hi Nikki1213.

Yes, that must be disappointing. However it's not that unusual and I'm confident your eye doctor will be able to sort this out for you. Please let us know how this turns out, okay?

Has anyone heard from Nikki1213? I hope that the silence means that there's nothing more to complain about.

Default me to!

A long time ago, when they first came out I ordered the gray ones, and OMG they looked soooo funny! First of all I couldn't see anything, it was all blurry, and second of all my eyes looked like a Chameleon!!!! Like one eye was looking to the right, and the other was looking to the left. It was kinda goofy. One thing about acuve contats is that they only come in one size. Base curve is 8.3 and diam. is 14. They are alot smaller than Freshlooks 8.6 by 14.5 And I don't remember having that problem with freshlook, and I would think the bigger the lens the more it would move around. However freshlook for me were huge and not comfortable.

I don't know why they do that since they are a smaller lens. But yeah, I never went back to those contacts. lol

Hi Deejayt. What's new? Are you happy with the FreshLooks?

I see you're from Minnesota. I hope you're not a Twins fan. I'll let you re-live the Twins' latest moment of triumph. They'll be back.

Stupid Yankees.

That's nice of you, Bonkers. I'm tired of the Yankees winning all the time, too.

Hey! I actaully can't stand the freshlooks. I had tried them along tme ago and didn't like them, thought I would give them another chance and got fitted again a few weeks ago, and the doctor gave me a trial and I had to take them out as soon as I got home. lol felt like sandpaper was in my eye. And I couldn't see. Not a very safe drive home. lol luckly I just live down the road. So I am going to stick with the "polymacon 38% material" its the only colored contacts that I can wear, but the doctor's office don't have any made with that because they are old school conventional vial lens. So I have to order online. I have a post about the new colored contacts I bought, they are very comfy and last up to a year! and only $38 for a pair. Here is the link to the contacts. Maybe the person who posted about the acuve colors would have better luck with these. http://www.lens101.com/color-contact-lenses/91529-bella-colored-contacts-sky-blue.html#post160398
here are the two youtube video of the lens.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GVMBywM2gI and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjWtUyCowa0
They are very natural looking also, and really cover dark eyes.

Hi Deejayt.

I watched that first video [www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GVMBywM2gI] and the contacts really do look good on you. You're right about how they cover the brown very well.
I have a question about the end of the clip, where I saw three or four still pictures. Are those all the same contact lenses?
I'm curious about those three

Hello, Yes, those pictures were the same lens, just different lighting, and A different camera was used to take the photo's then to do the video. The camera I used is the one I use for my photography so it catches detail. And depending on the lighting it makes the details show more or less. So maybe thats what your talking about? I looked at the video again, and I guess I don't know why you think they could be different. Did you watch the other video to?

I think I know what Sox05 was asking about.

The first video starts out with a few still pictures of your natural brown eyes. Then there's a clip of you modeling your blue contact lenses (Which look beautiful, by the way.) and then a few more still pictures of you wearing the contacts. In some of those last pictures the pattern of the color is a lot more prominent and they almost look like different lenses.

Oh ok, yeah, thats just from the lighting. I have studio lighting in my photo studio, and different angles with the lighting makes the color show different I guess. The 2nd video is better, because I have one lens in and one out so you can see the difference. And the photos are better to, because I used a regular point and shoot camera outside, so it shows what they would look like if someone was just looking at me in real life, in natural outdoor lighting. http://www.lens101.com/color-contact-lenses/91529-bella-colored-contacts-sky-blue.html that post has the pictures at the top,and if you look you can see they are the same lens. Just different lighting. This video is better! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjWtUyCowa0 and the pictures at the end are way better to.

Hey, maybe you can use your studio to take pictures of your friends and family wearing their contact lenses and post them here!

I wish I had a photo studio . . .

I did a Google image search for "photography studios" and look what came up:

Haha, very funny. First, I don't know anyone else who wears colored contacts. And second, I don't know if they would like having their photo posted on the internet. But nice try.

I think Moneyfornothin might be on to something. You could ask around and find out if any of your friends wear contact lenses, and if you find someone, ask them if you could take some pictures of them for this really rad contact lens website. (Do the kids still say "rad" these days?)

I like to take pictures myself with a digital camera. Just so people don't freak out, I always show them the picture I just took on the little screen. Sometimes the people say "Oh, gross! Delete that!" and so I do, but it's very rare. The reaction I get most of the time is a nod and an "uh-huh."

Try it.

Ok, but Like I said, I don't have any friends that wear colored contacts and can't just tell them to try mine on. And I'm not sure if the kids still say "Rad" these days, because i'm 26, I don't hang out with children.
I have pictures of my friends not wearing contacts, but that won't really help out this website.

Going back to the original question...it's normal for contacts to slide every once in a while. If it's happening all the time and they feel very uncomfortable, then you most likely have the wrong size. I got fitted for my acuvues and they do slide sometimes, move off center and such, so I see blue! That happens with all colored contacts and with clear ones...you just don't notice it much with clear ones since they don't have any color to block your vision. They can also slide and feel uncomfortable if you've worn them too long and your eyes are dry. I've seen many a contact-wearer, color or clear, move their eyes in weird ways trying to get them back in place, because they slid. So, unless it's happening non-stop and totally makes you want to take them off, it's nothing to worry about, and it's pretty normal.

and someone said down the line that they thought only larger contacts will slide...I think no matter what size you get, if it's the wrong base curve and don't fit your eyes properly, they'll move around and won't feel right. What I've heard is smaller ones feel tight and give people headaches, while larger ones can pop out of your eyes (I'm an 8.3 base curve and the freshlooks would not stay in my eyes; they'd pop right out!). If you have the wrong size, it can scratch your eye and damage it, so I wouldn't go around trying different brands unless it's doctor's orders. =T

Great answer, jellymelly14. I wish I would have thought of all that myself. You sound like quite the experienced contact lens user. I hope Deejayt finds it as interesting and informative as I did.

What a great answer, jellymelly14. Thanks for taking the time to explain all that. It's very important to have your contact lenses fitted properly by a professional.

Thanks! I'm not really an expert though; I'm a newbie contact wearer. I just go on forums, research, and I asked a lot of questions at the doctor's office before making the decision to switch to contacts. (I wore glasses pretty much all of my life). Plus, most of my friends wear contacts.

The last picture showed a lot more detail than the others. It looked like there was more than one color in that very last picture, while the others just looked blue.

Oh, yes I did see the second video, and no, you didn't look like a huge dork. I noticed that on one of the still pictures it looked like there were some brown "rays" coming out from the center of the lenses. They weren't so obvious in the video. Is that brown color on the lens itself, or was your natural color showing through?

The lens actaully has a yellow/gold/brown star burst on it, makes it look more natural. You can't actaully see any of my eye color through the lens. Its pretty opaque. I just took some more photo's and posted them on the other forum about the bella colored contacts. Here is one of them. And I did not edit the color of the contacts at all, I did edit the photo, (brightness/contrast) but the color of the lens is real. Looks crazy though! I love it.

Wow, what a great picture. Was that taken by a professional photographer?

What's this you say about "another forum"? Aren't we enough for you?

Thanks, and I'm a photographer, and I took the photo of myself... So to answer your question, I guess it was! lol

and my other forum, what I meant to say was other thread. Not forum. Same forum actaully, just under a different thread. Sorry for the missunderstanding, I would never cheat on lens101. Lol I have a bunch of other photos in the other thread to. I think I left the URL on the last post, or at least one of my post's. Go check it out.

Whew. Like Petra, I was worried that your experience on Lens 101 was not fulfilling for you. (We're still talking about a website, right?)

I've seen your picture in other threads in this forum and you look great every time. We're fortunate to have someone like yourself here who likes photography and contact lenses.
Do you think you might be able to convince some of your friends and family members who wear contacts to let you take their picture and post them here?

Deejayt, you look prettier than those models on a photo shoot up there.
