Default Picture of Sapphire Blue on Green Eyes

1st pic is my eyes without contacts...

2nd pic is my eyes with Acuvue 2 Opaques in Sapphire Blue...

I have red hair and freckles with a pretty fair complexion, so it most certainly is a noticable change...

I think I will try the green next...

Hi MuskokaMaryJane,

From what i can see they look great on you.
May I suggest that you post more pics with better lighting though; maybe in sunlight.
I take it that you are happy with the Acuvue 2 Colors considering you would like to get a 2nd pair.
What is your opinion on them in terms of colour, confort, etc?

I have tried other brands, i.e. Freshlook, Bausch & Lomb, Expressions, but wasn't really impressed with them.

Below is pics of my eye colour, what colours do you think would suit me?
Pic1 - natural color, indoor daylight
Pic2 - natural color, outdoor daylight

Hi there MuskokaMaryJane. It's been almost a year since you posted these lovely pictures of your fine self in your blue Acuvue 2 Opaque lenses. How about the green ones? Did you get the green ones?

The blue lenses look good, but I think the green would go best with the red hair and freckles. Maybe when you get the green lenses you can show us your freckled face too, complete with a smile. What do you think?

Oh, did I? It certainly seems that way. I didn't mean to.

Default green acuvue 2

I tried on the acuvue 2 in green and have pictures, if that helps. However, my natural eye color is brown...

Here they are with the green contacts...
Attachment 15329

with flash...
Attachment 15330
No one can tell I am wearing them unless I point it out to them. It looks really dark on brown eyes, barely makes them hazel. The only way you can really see them is in really bright light or if you use flash on a camera. And even then, they look very muddy, like a swamp. I feel like a lizard wearing them lol. Good thing they're just testers! What a shame, though...these opaques are not opaque at all... and the colors looked so nice in the container!

Default Green Acuvue 2

Hi jellymelly14. Thanks for the pictures.

In the one where we can see your face, first let me say I like your expression. It's kind of funny. (I hope you meant it that way.)
Secondly, since those are test contacts and they don't color your entire iris, you can see a bit of your natural color, and the contacts are very close to that color. So, yeah, if you're looking for a change, you might try a different color. Maybe a brighter green?

haha yeah, I was trying to be funny. And my optician only had me test acuvues; I wanted to try Freshlook Gemstone green but I couldn't get them to stay in my eyes, the base curve was too big. Acuvue only has this green or an even darker hazel green. I was pretty disappointed, but oh well. I think I like blue better anyway. =)

Those are nice pictures, Jelly. I agree with Mary Tamm that they are very close to your natural eye color. I don't think it's because the contact lenses aren't opaque, I just think they're too similar in color to your brown eyes.

If it makes you feel any better, I don't think you look like a lizard.

haha, thanks! In person, they're such a muddy color, that it looked pretty lizard-y. The flash of my camera makes them more noticeable.

BUT! I went for my follow-up and officially ordered the sapphire blue acuvue2. I'll post pictures once I get them! Can't wait =)

Lens Crafters made things pretty complicated with me...It was my first time getting contacts. They gave me green testers with no prescription because they don't have colored ones with prescription, and ordered a box for each eye (that I paid for) with prescription for me to test out. I asked what happens if I'm not happy with those, if they don't fit, etc, and they said I can exchange them. Within a week the green ones came in, and by then I really didn't like the green contacts, so I asked to exchange for blue. There was a big huff over doing that, even though I didn't open them or anything, (I showed up to pick them up and told them I'd like to exchange them for blue) and they said once I pick these blue ones I can't exchange them anymore. That's when I brought up how I have yet to test out contacts with my prescription in them, so... if I don't like how I see in them, I'm stuck with them? I have a slight astigmatism and I'm near sided; the acuvue colours don't correct astigmatism, so that's why I was worried about how I'd see in them. So, they gave me clear testers with the prescription... I see fine in them, since my astigmatism is so small, but it's weird that they weren't so particular with me especially since I've never worn contacts before. I was expecting a doctor to see me on my follow up, too, to make sure my eyes are taking to the contacts fine, and to answer my questions (I had a lot of questions!) I have a lazy eye, it's legally blind, so I have one working, useful eye, it's really important that the contacts aren't hurting my one good eye, and to make sure I know how to take care of them properly to prevent infection...but nope, just a sales associate was there to help me put the contacts in and that's it. Why I even had to schedule an appointment, I don't know. lol I usually have a good experience at that Lens Crafters but with this whole contact issue, I felt like they didn't want to help me at all!

Anyway, now that I'm done with my long ranting story...the blue ones will probably come in a week since that's how long it took the last ones to come in. I should probably have them sometime on Monday or later. =)

Hi jellymelly.

I'm sorry LensCrafters gave you such a hard time. I hope you like the lenses you get after all that.

If you want to get your contact lenses with less hassle (Hopefully no hassle.) then try our sponsor, Lens.com. I don't usually like to advertise, but since you've already had a bad experience, I thought maybe you were open for suggestions. Just click the big red rectangle up at the top of this page. You can't miss it.

Yeah, I plan on ordering online from now on...But I was hoping for a proper fitting and appointment since it was my first time. That's what was most disappointing. =T

Ok I finally got around to getting pictures! Here they are, I'll post them here and on the sapphire blue thread. =)

The pupil hole is big, I know, so you can see my brown eyes. I don't really care though. Sapphire blue is a pretty cool color, they've grown on me. lol

You look so pretty jellymelly14! Those contacts are a good color choice. Have you gotten any compliments on them? Compliments from strangers? Keep on smiling and you will.

I actually got a compliment today! I was at work, and a customer came up to ask about a product, and she stopped in mid sentence, said she lost her train of thought because of my eyes, and how they looked really nice on me. Then she had her daughter come by to look at them too! lol. =)

That's great jellymelly14. Maybe next time a guy will stop in med-sentence and be transfixed by your eyes. I hope you don't have a jealous boyfriend or husband!

Nice cropping job there, Nursenancy. You're right, too. The brown color is pretty well covered by these blue contacts.

Yeah, that's why I ended up picking these. They were the most opaque out of all the ones I tried. I meant you can see my brown eye color through the pupil hole...around my pupil...since they make the hole big to compensate when eyes dilate and such. Some people don't like a large pupil hole b/c they don't like their own natural eye color showing through. Others, like me, don't mind because a large pupil hole means you'll still be able to see when your eyes DO dilate (in dim lighting)...if the contact blocks your eyes from dilating, you can get cloudy vision. =P Upclose, yeah you can see my real eye color around the pupil. From far away, not so much...just kind of looks like my eyes blend into a hazel around the middle or something.

P.S. I got another compliment on them, this time from a guy! So looks like both genders like the contacts lol =)

That's too bad, jellymelly14. So you just didn't like the color? Those blue ones sure look good on you. Good luck on finding the green ones you want. I hope there will be more pictures in the future.

Yeah, the blue ones are fine. I just didn't like the color of the green ones. In real life, they are so dark and muddy, most people could not even see the green. Oh well, we'll see how it goes...if I can afford anymore colored contacts I sure will try and post pictures =) haha.

We'll be waiting, jellymelly14. I don't know anyone who doesn't like pictures.

Perhaps you can ask for contact lenses for Christmas.

Can you buy contact lenses for someone else as a gift?

I'm thinking you can if you know their prescription. Haha, if anyone wants to do that for me and happens to be reading this... I am -2.75 in my left eye and -3.00 in my right, with a base curve of around 8.3!! lol.

Anyway, I did end up buying new lenses (blue ones). They're from the illusions brand, and I made a thread for it =D

With you looking so cute in your pictures don't be surprised if you find a whole pile of Acuvue 2 Colours boxes under your tree! Getting them to you is easy. I'll just tell Santa to bring them to you.

I think I will try the green next...
So how are you MuskokaMaryJane. Have people been reacting to your new blue eyes lately? How about those green ones?
