I just read some kind of press release or something that said that Acuvue 2 contacts have been FDA approved to be worn overnight for up to six nights. So does that mean you can wear every night for six nights, clean them up and put them in for another six nights right after that? My guess it would be more of an occasional thing. If you go on vacation for five days you can sleep in the one pair for the whole trip, but you couldn't do that every week. Is there anyone out there who can tell me about this six night thing? I think it's probably best with two week lenses to take them out as often as possible, but that's just me. I'm no expert and that's why I'm glad I found Lens 101. Happy Holidays!

Hi Walkaway,
Is that the Kelly Clarkson song? I love that song! Anyway, you posted a question about using Acuvue 2 contacts for prolonged overnight use. I wouldn't recommend that. I just read something online that was an actual clinical study of overnight contact lens use. They compared Acuvue 2, PureVision and no contacts. Turns out that after one night and then after seven consecutive nights, the Acuvue 2 lens has more corneal swelling than the other lens, and it also took longer for the swelling to go down. Hope that helps! |
