Default Acuvue 2 (sapphire blue) and wear time question..

Ok, I use Acuvue 2 colours the 2 week wear ones.. well my allergies have run wild over the past week so Ive been wearing my glasses. Prior to my allergies kicking up I was wearing my contacts for a week. Got my reminder to change contacts yesterday.. now my question is, if I wanted could I use them today since I only wore them for a week? or should I still break out a new pair?

Hi Tracy. Welcome to Lens 101. I'm not an eye doctor, but I'll try and answer your question anyway.

Acuvue 2 Colours (Are they the Enhancers or the Opaque lenses?) are 1-2 week lenses, which means you can wear them for one week if you sleep with them in, and two weeks if you take them out at night.

When you wore the pair in question before, did you sleep in them? These lenses area bit tricky, since most other lenses can just be worn x number of times. If you haven't been sleeping in them, then I'd say you can still wear them, but toss them if you've already worn them day and night for a week.

Double check with your eye doctor though. I'd feel terrible if something happened to you after you took my non-professional advice. Let us know how it turns out, okay?

Thanks for the reply,

They are opaque lenses.. and no I never sleep in them, I wore them from maybe 10am to 8pm for about 6 days straight.

Hi Tracey, and welcome to Lens 101.

I agree with Tony the Tiger's answer about the 1-2 week lenses like Acuvue 2 Opaque. If you don't sleep in them, then you can put them in 14 times before you have to throw them away, as long as it's not past the expiration date on the package.

Right, thanks Betty. Sometimes people get confused about the 1 to 2 weeks part. For those who wear them all the time, they must be discarded after seven days and nights.
For people like Tracey who don't sleep with them in, you can put them in your eyes 14 times. Wear them every day and they'll last two weeks. Skip a day now and then, and they'll last a little longer. Does that make sense?
