Default Where Do These Lipids Come From?

Someone else posted a question here about lipid deposits on Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism contacts. Their question was close, but not exactly what I was looking for.
I was wondering where these lipids come from. Is it something that your eyes naturally produce? Can anything be done to reduce these lipids, maybe a change in diet? What's the best way to clean these lipid deposits once they get on your contacts?

These lipids are present in your tears. Generally the best thing to do is to switch to a different brand of contact lens. Although they can be cleaned off, they will re-appear soon after insertion.

Hi Eyebike,

Thanks for the reply. It was a good answer, but I wonder if you can tell me if a change in diet--you know maybe a low-fat diet--can reduce the amount of lipids in your tears?
