Someone else posted a question here about lipid deposits on Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism contacts. Their question was close, but not exactly what I was looking for.
I was wondering where these lipids come from. Is it something that your eyes naturally produce? Can anything be done to reduce these lipids, maybe a change in diet? What's the best way to clean these lipid deposits once they get on your contacts? |

These lipids are present in your tears. Generally the best thing to do is to switch to a different brand of contact lens. Although they can be cleaned off, they will re-appear soon after insertion.

Thanks for the reply. It was a good answer, but I wonder if you can tell me if a change in diet--you know maybe a low-fat diet--can reduce the amount of lipids in your tears? |
