Question Acuvue Advance Astigmatism Discontinued???

I joined the forum just now to ask this specific question because I don't know anyone else personally who wears these lenses.

My eye care provider claims that "They aren't making those contacts anymore. I can't order them." I haven't found anything anywhere on the web that indicates that this is the case.

I contacted Johnson and Johnson via email to ask if they were discontinuing them and they responded with a vehement "No."
J&J's Vistakon (http://www.jnjvisioncare.com/) website still indicates them as a valid product.

Has anyone else heard anything like this? It seems like I'm being given the run-around or some sort of story. Perhaps my optometrist can't get them from the service HE uses or something similar.

I would ask another eye doctor but I'm not sure they would give me an answer without being a patient and I'm trying not to pay out of pocket for yet another eye exam.

It would not be such a huge deal but as other toric lens wearers know that one lens can work for one person and not another. These were one of two if not the only soft lens that's worked well for me. Being out of them, not able to order more, and stuck with the Oasys version (which messes with my peripheral vision although otherwise OK) is very stressful. If someone could ask their eye care provider or let me know if they've heard anything like this I would be greatly appreciative.
