Default Eyesight got worse after trying AAA

I have been trying the Acuvue Advance for Astigm. for almost 3 weeks. Now when I wear prescription glasses that I purchased in February, the eyeglasses are not strong enough for me to see clearly. I see ok with the eyeglasses if I push them closer to my eyes. I was tested when I bought the eyeglasses and they were fine. Why has my eyesight worsened after trying these contact lenses?

I am also very worried about how I experienced a rip on the left contact lenses after a weeke and a half of the trial. The same day that the replacement trial came in, I ripped the right contact lens.

I do not think I am mishandling the disposables.. As I take out the contacts from my eyes, they fold up. Basically they collapse and the inside curved parts stick to each other. I do not try to peel them apart. I was told that I should put them in the case wit plenty of solution and they will "self correct" and become unfurled. I then put them in the Optifresh Express Solution and they sometimes unfold again, usually after a few seconds. There were two times when they did NOT unfold, and that is when I found that they had a small rip or dimple in them. The area of the contact that gets damaged s the fold line area. IS THIS NORMAL? Wow these lenses seem so fragile!!!!!!

I previously wore RGP contact lenses for 35 years. (Argh ...I just turned 49). Do you need to know my prescription in order to give me advice? I have very bad nearsightedness and now some presbyopia too.

My NUMBER ONE comment and worry---Why is my accuity WORSE? This is a BAD outcome!

Should I revert to RGP lenses? Is it UNSAFE to wear RGP lenses for decades? (the optometrist warned that I could have burn out if I wore RGP lenses for decades... Is this true?)

I really hope for some help here. I am really worried..

(PS. Due to a downturn in the economy, I am a job seeker and so is my husband. I need an affordable vision solution without compromising eyesight._

Thanks in advance for any help you might offer!!!
