I'd like to hear some feedback regarding your reaction to Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism. Are they easy to put in your eyes? Are they comfortable? Easy to care for? Most importantly, do they correct your astigmatism?

Thanks for your help.

Yes, and Yes, they do, they are designed to be under the pressure of an eyelid, it's quite technological lenses. they also keep your eyes moist.

The vision you get is clear all the time, they are a great product from Acuvue if you ask me.

Yeah, they're pretty nice lenses, I tried them a while back, though I got my vision fixed and wear Hydraclear and Oasys lenses.

What do you mean you "got your vision fixed"? Did you have some kind of corrective Eye Surgery but still need contact lenses?

Yes, it seems as though most people like Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism. It's got a long name, but people seem to be asking for it.

I am using Acuvue Advance. I have very dry eyes and have not found lenses that I can consistently wear >8 hrs every day. That said, these are the most comfortable that I've tried.

A couple of issues I've had with the lenses: I've had several of them tear during handling and in my eye. My optometrist says I may have gotten a bad box of lenses and has replaced some of the lenses. I've also found them a little hard to handle. They are the thinnest lenses I've handled.

I'm waiting on a trial pair of Acuvue Advance Oasys Toric. I'm hoping that they are like the advance but comfortable enough to allow me to wear for longer periods.

Let us know what you think of those Acuvue Advance Oasys Toric lenses. When do you expect the trial lenses?

Did you try the acuvue oasys? I would like to try the acuvue advanced. I am finding the oasys feeling like my eyelashes are sticking to them, also feel like I have to keep blinking. It almost feels like someone is blowing in my eyes, if that makes any sense. Has anyone had this kind of experience? I am new to contacts so I need all the information and help I can get, Thanks all

When you say "it almost feels like someone is blowing in your eyes" do you mean that your eyes feel dry?

I guess maybe thats what it is . These lenses also feel a little uncomfortable especially on the sides , the outer sides by the ears.

Well. I'm sorry that you're not having much fun with your contacts. Are you going to try a different brand?

The bio medic toric were good but my vision wasn't because she said they didn't come in a 70 axis so she ordered me a 60. Also the bio medic comes in a 8.7 curve and the oasys
Are a 8.6 would that make a big difference?

Ah, the old "comfort versus clarity compromise."

If your eye doctor fitted you with a contact lens with an axis of 60 instead of 70, I guess it's not a big difference.
As far as base curve is concerned, it's not unusual for someone to wear an 8.7 when they were prescribed an 8.6. As long as your eye doctor is okay with it, I don't see any sense in arguing. If for some reason those lenses don't feel right or don't give you clear vision, be sure to let your eye doctor know.

Thanks I let her know, i just brought in my previous glasses and the axis was 55. With those glasses my sight was a lot better. My question is if that prescription is a 55 axis should I be wearing a 70 axis in contact lenses?

When I say previous glasses I mean the glasses I had before the my latest pair. I just foumd them and discovered that my eyesight was a lot better. My O.D originally Prescribled a 60 axis with the contacts and I was not seeing correctly, Maybe I need a 50 axis. She will not be in until Thursday so I just spoke to her associate, he's not an O.D so couldnt tell me that much. I did bring the glasses in so he could see the difference in prescription. I am so sick of not having my eyesight perfect after I spend good money. I'm thinkng the 50 axis would probably do the trick. Please help...

I've been wearing Oasys trials for about a week. My impression so far is that they are very similar to the "non" Oasis Advance lenses. They are not a leap in comfort. :-(

I'll probably end up with these lenses. Biofinity are the most comfortable I've tried. But my doc just can't get me fitted with a pair that are not unacceptably blurry.

I would like to try the Biofinity Toric. Why didnt they fit, did he say? Did you find the acuvue advancd anymore comfortable than the oasys toric?

I've had two doc's give up on trying to fit me with Biofinity Toric. The lens are comfortable and align in my eye perfectly. But when I wear them, I get double vision type of blurring. OK during the day but flat out dangerous at night. The docs can't explain what's going on. Definitely a bummer as I can wear the Biofinity all day, no problem. Don't have this blurring problem with Advance or Oasis.

Note- I'm doing the monovision thing which I'm sure complicates the problem

From my trial, Oasis is more confortable than Advance. But the improvement in comfort is not as significant as I hoped. Oasis is not as comfortable as Biofinity.

Your mileage may vary. I'm meeting with my doc this week to see if there are any other options. I've bought new glasses and will probably just go with the Oasis but not on a daily basis.

Just one more question, you said in a previous post that the advanced were the thinnest lenses you wore. Are they thinner then the oasys?

Contact lens and glasses prescriptions are rarely the same. Mostly this is due to the fact that glasses are an inch or so in front of your eyes while contact lenses are, well, in contact with your eyes.

What's the latest Smanzi333? Have you gotten your axis issue resolved?

Update... I wore the Oasys trials for a little more than a week. Very clear. But the comfort just doesn't seem to be much better than regular Advance. I struggle to get 10 hours our of them which, to me seems to be the minimum that someone should be able to get from a set of lenses. (IMHO)

I am currently trying Air Optix for Astigmatism. Not as comfortable as Biofinity, but more comfortable than Oasys and not as blurry as Biofinity. I'm leaning on going with Air Optix.

It's good to see that there is some improvement, gregnb. Keep us posted on your progress. I hope the Air Optix lenses work out for you.

So what would be a full day's contact lens wear, in your opinion? If 10 hours is the minimum, is 12 hours about average?

Well now I'm having another problem!!! I am getting irritated under my eyes from the drops. It seems like i can't win with these contacts plus i'm waking up in the morning with extremely dry eyes. I'm leaning more toward the oasys again if I can solve the problem of irritated bags under my eyes. I took a few days off from the contacts and am going to try again, I think. If not it's back to glasses!!!

Wow. I'm sorry you're having so much trouble lately. Please keep us posted on how you're doing. You may want to see an eye doctor and make sure it's just the contacts that are making your eyes dry and irritated and not some other condition like conjunctivitis.

You can just click on the red banner you see on this page and it will take you to Lens.com. There you can look up those two lenses and compare materials, water contents and prices.

Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism
53% Polymer (galyfilcon A)
Water Content: 47% H2O
Manufacturer: Johnson & Johnson

Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism
62% Polymer (senofilcon A)
Water Content: 38% H2O
Manufacturer: Johnson & Johnson

So there you have it. They're made of different materials and Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism has more water.
