I find that in many reviews, people compare Acuvue Advance contacts with Pure Vision. Have any of you tried both? What led you from one to the other? Which do you prefer?

well I have tried both, The Pure Vision (toric) was so comfortable at first but I found I could not tolerate them at all. I always used Clear Care Solution and even if they were new out of the box, within a few hours they had such a build up of something (protein I guess) that it was like looking through a fog. I also found them to be big, or at least they seemed really big to insert. But I went to them because I tried 2 RX's of Accuvue Advance for Astigmatism and they just kept tearing or ripping or otherwise getting ruined. About 1/2 of them come out of the package all mis-shappen and either already torn (like an edge torn off) or it happens when I take them out because they are typically folded in half and are very delicate so they tend to rip when you unfold them. I thought I had a bad batch, so I re-ordered them again. Then I tried the Pure Vision, Now I have just gone back to the AccuVue Advance for Astigmatismt today because the docs didn't have anything else to recommend. I am going to try one box each because excpt for ripping, they are great. If this happens again I will try the AccuVue Oasys for Astigmatism to see if they are noticeably different...PS. I have never heard of this but the Pure Vision (Kaiser) doc (prescibing doctors were 2 different optometrists) actually told me that I had to line up the little line in the lens so they were straight top and bottom before I inserted them for the right fit (wwwhat?). My regular (Accuvue optometrist) never heard of this either. Last edited by mfricano; 10-07-2008 at 01:03 PM.. Reason: typo |

I found your last comment interesting. Are these toric lenses you are talking about with the little line? I'm surprised you didn't know that toric lenses have to sit on your eye a certain way or else you won't see clearly. That's why you have special contact lenses that have these little lines as well as different thicknesses to keep them straight. |
