Is Acuvue Advance a contact lens you can sleep in? Can anyone tell me which brands listed on this forum are overnight contacts?

ADVANCE is NOT an extended wear lens. XW lenses are O2 Optix, OASYS, Biofinity, Avaira. Several others hold this approval, but the FDA has not gone back and revoked approval for those older lenses. Current clinical science would not support their attaining extended wear approval. Remember, extended wear means 7 days, 6 nights, take out and clean. Check with your doctor for recommended replacement schedule.

My eye doctor calls them an "overnight" lens. I used to wear extended wear contacts but forget the brand. When disposables were invented, I switched to them and wearing them overnight does not work for me. I have had great success with daily wear soaking them in Renu overnight and wearing them daily for 2 weeks, then I toss them for a fresh pair. Your eye doctor should be able to explain the difference in your particular case. The people I know that have problems with contacts pushed the rules too far and didn't take care of their lenses.

It's a general question to all the contact lens practitioner. When do you convert a patient from other lenses to Acuvue Advance and why? What are the main points you stress on while counselling for the product?
