Default Acuvue advance for astigmatism vs osasis for astigmatism

I have been a wearer of AAfor astigmatism for 5 years and now they have come out with oaysis for astigmatism, I am trying them but I noticed my eyes feel a lil drier and the lens seems a lil more thicker. Also with my new script I feel a lil dizzy at times and the script feels strong..I am 44 so I my close up vision is starting to blur, I use contacts for distance .I am wondering if it is normal for me to feel dizzy cause it is a new scrip and any comments on teh different types of lenses.

Hello.

I generally like to address the person who started the post by their screen name and shorten it if I can, but I just can't bring myself to type "Hi Sweetie."

Now, to try to answer your question. I'm no expert, but judging by what I've read before on this site, a little blurriness is not unexpected with new contact lenses, but I don't hear much mention of dizziness. You probably want to ask your eye doctor about that. It's very hard to answer a question like this over the Internet.

Please keep us posted. I want to make sure you find a solution for this problem.

I agree with JRC. Sometimes new contact lenses can blur your vision, but I don't think it's normal for them to make you dizzy. I remember when I got some new glasses I had the odd sensation of feeling like things were smaller, but it didn't really make me dizzy. Are you sure that the dizziness isn't caused by the magnifying or "minifying" of the things around you?

thanks for the comments. I guess I overemphased the dizziness thing, I guess what I feel is it feels different, sort of fuzzy, but yet clear, maybe because the scrip is stronger. ALso been noticing the doc changed the cylinder on one but not the sperical and that one feels tighter..is that wierd. I am so over sensative to even little changes in my body that it drives me nuts! I also have an agstimatism which is a little harder to correct.

Hi sweetie2040. I'm sorry to read about all the trouble you're having with your contact lenses. You say that you are "so over sensitive" to things. You also say that you've been wearing contact lenses for five years. So you've never experienced anything like this in all that time? If you have, then you probably know it will pass. If not, this may be something to bring to your eye doctor's attention. You may need to have your prescription adjusted or maybe try a different brand of contact lenses.

Let us know how this works out, okay? You know how we worry about you . . .

Default doing better, but still an issue on right side

thanks for your reply. I am getting more adjusted but I still notice the right eye feels different, like it's tight. I called the doc and had him order a different lens acuvue advance for agstimatisim the one they made before oaysis. those lens are really soft. I have another question though. is it normal for your prescription to have to be increased every year? it makes me feel like my eyes are more and more dependent on lens and I see worse without them...for example I went from a -200 to a -250 on the left sphere and -75 to -150 on cyl on the right he only increased the cyl...could that be what is causing the contact to feel "tight"? I feel so frustrated, but I truley hate glasses!

I don't know how old you are, and I wouldn't dare ask, sweetie or no, but if you're in your teens or early twenties, your prescription may be changing every year because your eyes are still growing. I've been lurking around this site for quite a while now, and I can tell you that there are very few posts that talk about contact lens dependence. I'm not 100% sure, but I am fairly certain that your eyes do not weaken and become "dependent" because you wear glasses or contact lenses. When I was in that age range not long ago, my prescription changed each year until it finally stabilized.

ok, I'm 44,and the script still seems to go up a little e very year...the sphere and cylinder was increased this year from -300 -75 to -300 -175...does that seem odd

Well, based on my own experience, it does seem strange that your prescription is still changing, but I'm far from being an expert.
If you haven't done so already, talk to your eye doctor about your concerns. It's possible that you need a different brand of contact lenses. Keep us posted.
