Default My issues with Oasys

At the end of december of 2010, I went into the eye doctor as I had decided I wanted contacts. I have had prescribed glasses for 20 years, and except for when I was in high school, and a few other short bits, I never regularly wore them. It was more an issue of comfort, as most glasses give me headaches from the pressure on the top and back of the ears. My sight was just a little blurry, and managed just fine without (even passing the vision test at the BMV). But I was tired if not really being able to read street signs unless right up on them, and knew I should do something.

So after reading up on the various lenses available to me (I knew I had an astigmatism), I went in wanting the Oasys. Well the doc told me good, as those were the ones he was giving me !! Seems he has the most luck with these when it came to comfort and clarity. Right away I didnt think the left eye felt very good (slight movement/foregn object in the eye), and was told give them a few days to a week to get used to them and see if the discomfort went away. Well, I was back in there a few days later, and he said my true axis for my left eye was 75 but they only came in 80 or 70. So he switch my axis from 80 to 70, and the script strength up a quarter step (as my eyes relaxed with the lenses my script went up). I gave these week, and went back with the same issue LOL. He decided to try me back at 80 and again up a quarter step.

I still had the same issue. Right eye felt just fine in comparison, but the left eye was a constant irritant. We decided to try a different brand. I asked about Air Optic, and he got these in for me. Now, I just have these in for the first time now for about an hour, but the difference is WONDERFUL. Both eyes feel great, though I am still getting used to them, so have a little blurring at the edges, but I had this with the Oasys and it went away as I got used to them.

I am not talking down on the Oasys lenses, just letting people know that they just did NOT feel right for me.

The lesson? Dont settle, you will find the right fit if you try !! I just hope these turn out as great as I hope they will.

On a side note, I had been having a slight blury vision issue the last few days with the Oasys. He had me on Opti-free Replenish solution, and he suggested that maybe I was having either a protein buildup issue or a drying out issue. He gave me Crystal Clear to try instead, we will see if that helps, starting out with these new lenses !!

I will keep posting as I can. As for the name, it became an alias back in college. It just stuck, expecially as an online handle.

Yes, that is a cool name. I think any name that begins in X sounds mysterious.

I want to thank you too for your posting. It was very interesting and informative. I look forward to reading more of your work.

Allow me to also thank you for your inspiring story of triumph over contact lens adversity. It's great that your persistence paid off for you. Now maybe you can search the forum and help some other people who might be having problems getting used to new contact lenses.
