Default Changes to lens shape?

I've been trialing Acuve Oasys (Toric in my right eye, normal in my left) since Thursday last week (31/03/11). I've worn them everyday, removing them most days (but not always) for a few hours in the evening to rest my eyes. I have slept in them every night, except Friday night.

I’ve noticed the lens, more so the toric one, seems to be distorted in shape. Rather than it being a cup like shape, it’s slightly saucer like at some of the edges. I’m 100% sure it is not inside out, I have turned it in the other way, and you can clearly see which is correct or not, but it has defiantly changed shape.

If feels fine in the eye, I’m not wearing them today but not because of comfort, I just wanted a lens free day – This is my first time with extended wear contacts, and I’m a little paranoid my eyes won’t get enough oxygen! I’m sure this paranoia will cease as I get more used to the idea.

Anyway, is this something that others have noticed? Is it the lens adjusting to my eye? Or should this not happen? As I said it’s not affecting my eye or vision, I’m really happy with this lens, so I’m not worried - just wondered if it was normal. I’m not due a check up until Saturday after next, so thought I’d ask here.

The unusual shape of the toric lens may be due to the fact that it's a toric lens. Those have one edge called a "ballast" that's a little thicker than the rest so that it doesn't turn upside down on your eye. I know it sounds weird to talk about an upside down circle, but toric lenses are not symmetrical and they have to sit on your eye a certain way.
I hope that helps.

Interesting illustration! Thanks.

I'm going to compare my old lens with the new when it's time to throw these out to see if they're always like it.
