Default Acuvue Oasys and ADD power

Hello,
I have my second trial pair of Oasys for presbyopia, last time my prescription was +1.75 left and +1.5 right with add 1.75 in both. The problem was that my up close vision (althought improved) was not quite good for reading, my distance vision was very good. I went back and got me a new prescription this time with and add of +2.5 (High) now I can read beautifully but as soon as I look any farther that 4 feet away everything gets terribly blurry. It was my understanding that the ADD would not affect my distance vision but it seems like I am looking throught my reading glasses all the time. Maybe my that my eyes are not switching from one magnification to the other? I am willing to sacrifice some sharpness from a distance but I do believe that I am not suppose to see worse than when I am not wearing anything. Is this something that I have to live with? I thought that my Dr. could adjust each power (distance and up close) independently from the other since I read that with the Proclear (they claim) the ADD and distance powers can be adjusted independent from each other? Can someone elaborate?

Greetings ElPepin. Welcome to out forum.
My suggestion would be to take the lenses back your eye doctor and tell them what you told us. It's not uncommon to read reviews from people who say that no matter what they do they just can't get good vision both near and far, but if I were you I wouldn't give up just yet.

First of all thank you for taking the time to reply, I guess that my real question was: Will the ADD power remain constant if they reduce my distance vision?. Since it appears not so the other way around.
P.S.
I've been a hypermetrope since I was 19 and just now at 42 is far vision has been affected so my problem has always been in the near vision scale.

Here's a definition of "add" I found: "Add power is an additional corrective power on part of the lens to assist with reading and viewing objects close-up. Add power is always positive.

Whether or not they change your add power would probably depend on how you react to the change in your main prescription. Since add helps you with reading, if they tweak your distance vision, it probably won't affect the add power.

Sorry this question isn't about Acuvue Oasys for Presbyopia, but same idea.

On the back of the little package that the PureVision Multifocals came in, it is printed the following:

" ADD High "

Power for distance is +1.50 for both lenses.

Does anyone know what "ADD high" means?

If I'm not mistaken, since a + prescription makes reading easier, an "ADD high" prescription would have a little boost in the plus prescription, making it a little easier for you to read than if you didn't have that "boost."

I think that's correct. If anyone has a better explanation, let's have it. I'm not 100% confident I understand that add thing.

I found another thread in Lens 101 that might explain this concept better: http://www.lens101.com/purevision-multi-focal/17329-what-add-low.html
