Default Who Wears Acuvue Oasys for Presbyopia?

Please forgive my ignorance, but I need to ask a question.

Most of the people that I know who wear contact lenses started out at a young age. These contacts for presbyopia are for the older folks. Presbyopia usually doesn't begin to show itself until around the age of forty. In fact, the word "presbyopia" means "Presbyterian eyes."

I'm kidding. I really means "old eyes."

Do we have anyone here on the site under the age of forty who wears Acuvue Oasys for Presbyopia?

These new Oasys for Presbyopia lenses were just rolled out last month but with limited availability. The second wave is supposed to come in June. I was the 3rd person at my optometrist's to receive a trial pair, and while they are definitely comfortable, my distance vision is quite compromised. Pretty much the same story with all the other multifocals I've tried.

Hi Tadurkee,

I'm sorry to hear that you're still not seeing very well after being fitted with the Oasys from Presbyopia. How many different multifocal contact lenses have you tried?
Now that it's been a few months since you posted this, I wonder how you're doing. Have you gotten the Oasys contacts to work, found another pair or wearing glasses?

I gave the Oasys for Presbyopia a week's try. My distance vision was compromised so I went back to my former lense combination which is the Unilens C-Vue multifocal (left eye) and Oasys monovision (right eye). Just enough of a boost to give me some up close vision (enough to get by on for now) and still decent distance vision, which is crucial for night time driving. I feel the C-Vue gives me slightly better up close vision than the Oasys for Presbyopia and my eyes seem to focus better with that combination. I tried several other multifocals last year (don't remember what they were) but my vision was pretty lousy.

What are you wearing?

Thumbs up

I love these lenses. Unlike the other users I've had good distance vision as well as near and middle vision. I've been wearing Acuvue lenses for years. I tend to wear them longer than I should. (Trying to get better at getting on schedule.) I first tried Purevision Multi-Focal and my vision was perfect with those, however they irritated my eyes. Those are rated for monthly wear. Acuvue Oasys for Presbyopia are rated for 1 week of continuous (overnight) wear and 2 weeks of wear if you remove them at night.

In my original post I asked about those who wear Acuvue Oasys for Presbyopia and are younger than forty years of age. Do I take it that you haven't yet seen your fortieth birthday, bearfun?

I was just given a pair of these acuvue oasys for presbyopia today and I am 36 years old. I have to say that when I initially inserted them in my eyes they felt like I had nothing in my eyes. I was wearing proclear and I had days where they were ok and days where they were horrible.

I hope these work out only time will tell.

Interesting, as I have only ever found Purevision to be good clear vision at all distances, but they still irritate me every now and again. I have ordered a box of these Acuvue to try. The other Acuvue multifocal vision I found were horrible.....

Sorry to O.P. - I am 49 so not much help to your original question!

That's okay, Lynda. I appreciate your comments, even if they don't quite apply to my original question, at least it' still relevant. Unlike those spammers who come on this site and try to sell shoes. (You know who you are.)

Please let us know how you like the Acuvue Oasys for Presbyopia contact lenses. We'll be anxiously awaiting your review.
