Default Question on Acuve Oasys (astigmatism)

This is the second time this has happened, and the last time I called the company, they never heard of this.

I only have a contact in left eye. Last night I took it out (and I have it in the container). I woke up in the middle of the night feeling like something was in my left eye, and I put my hand there, and a contact came out. I looked in my normal container, and there is a contact in there. So now I have 2 separate containers with 2 contacts in there.

I keep a little post it note of when I last put the contact in, which was Oct 30. I have not put another one since then.

The last time this happened, it was a little hard getting the contact out, and they told me to throw them out (and they were to replace them)-as they didn't want anything broken.

I have no explanation for this, other than thinking that maybe there were 2 in the package to begin with, but the contacts have always been comfortable.

If I close my right eye, it is very easy to tell if the contact is out, as vision is blurry, which it was after I took my normal contact out.

If anyone has any answers, let me know. I am going to call on Monday.

I wore contacts for 1 1/2 years without a problem and never had this happen, then had to stop them for a year, and now went back to them.

Was wondering if the quality has gone down or something?

Thanks

Debbie

Wow, Debbie, that's really weird. If you're sure you didn't put a second lens in your eye before taking the first one out, then there must have been two lenses in one package and you put them both in at the same time.
Twice.
Either that or maybe somehow the lens split in two, but that seems extremely unlikely.
Very mysterious.

Default Question on Acuve Oasys (astigmatism)

Hi,

Yes I am sure that I only put the one in. I just called the company and told them the exact thing happened twice, and stressed to them that I do not have "dementia" :-). I have a 5+ in my left eye, and she said if I had 2 in there it would be equivilent to 10+ and I would not be able to see.

However, at no time, did I have blurry vision. My left eye is normally 400/20, and I do most of my seeing via the right eye. Although this contact does bring it down to 20/20 or 25/20, my distance vision with this eye is not that far, as it is mostly the right eye that is dominate, so I don't know if this is a factor that I could still see fine.

She said that is possible that 2 were stuck together, but has no explanation why I saw perfect with 2 in there. She said there were no problems with the lot #.

I thought maybe the contact split in 2 pieces, but I checked them yesterday and nothing was wrong, and I put it in my eye, and I saw fine.

She finds it weird also, but as stated, I keep a record of when I open the package. I do remember on Friday, that the contact felt funny going in at first and I had to take it out and reput the same contact in a few times, but then was fine (and I only had 1 contact in my hand that I put in).

So even though you had two lenses in your eye at the same time, you still could see fine? That's really weird. Maybe the second lens was a "blank" with no corrective power.

Default Question on Acuve Oasys (astigmatism)

I will probably change over to the other lens in a few days (and/or I might try it) today for a second just to see. Last time this happened, I also saw fine.

Thank you for the replies.

Default Question on Acuve Oasys (astigmatism)

I might add for a second, that since I was curious about the second lens, I just went and put it in my eye, and I saw fine, so that means it was also a 5.0, making two 5.0's in my eyes (with no blanks).

Again, thank you for your replies. I don't feel so alone now.

So have you been having any more problems with your contact lenses, Sensible Debbie?

Default contact lens problem

Hi "EYE OF HARMONY".

In reponse to your question, I have been okay until Monday.

I had put drops in, and waited for awhile and put the contact in. I thought? it went to the top of the eye, but all day with putting drops in, nothing came out. I thought I felt it also, and I did all the stuff on the internet I could find to no avail. I couldn't find the contact anywhere else (on counter, etc).

On Tues afternoon, I did not feel it anymore, but I noticed that above my eye was really, really red, which had me concerned, so I was watching it.

I had a scheduled Opthal appt anyway on Thursday that I made months ago and I went today and had her double check, and sure enough the contact was in my eye, folded over, stuck and would not have come out on its own.

Usually if it does gets stuck, it has come out, but never like this.

This scared me, as she said I was the 3rd person in a month period that this happened to.

Now, I will make sure I put the drop in my eyes seconds before applying the contacts, where before it was like 30 minutes.

She said I did nothing wrong.

Debbie

It sounds like you have a very helpful staff at your ophthalmologist's office, and it's nice that they told you that you didn't do anything wrong. I hope things go more smoothly for you from now on and that your new eye drop schedule will do the trick.

Don't hesitate to stop by again. Tell us how you feel a little later. We want to make sure you're okay. Happy Holidays.

Default contact lense reply

Thank you fitness mistress.

I have such a heavy prescription of glasses on the left eye, that I hate to wear them as they are heavy, so the contacts help a lot as there is no glasses involved, but I have to leave them out for 2 days, which will make a week I haven't worn them.

Hi Debbie/Sensible. Did you know that there's an eyeglasses section here?

Default Contacts Splitting / Doubled?

I threw away my old contacts yesterday and opened up a new pair of Oasys Acuvue for Astigmatigmatism this morning. All day I had difficulty reading close up but didn't think much about it. when I took my contacts out tonight, there were TWO lenses in each eye. I can't tell if the lenses split or if they are actually two of the same lenses that I am supposed to have. It sounds like other people are reporting the same thing so whichever one it is, it seems quality control is an issue. I've been wearing this brand for a couple years and have never seen anything like this till now.

Default Acuve oasis response

Hi, I am so glad to read this happened to someone else (double contacts in package).

The last time this happened, both of my contacts were fine (they were not split)-so most likely you did have two separate contacts (which was in my case also). Mine did not bother my vision at all though.

Does that mean that you have a thicker contact lens in your left eye as well?

So even though you had two lenses in each eye, you were still able to tolderate them all day, huh? You've got some tough eyes, my friend. Have you ever worn rigid gas perm lenses, by any chance?

So the lens split into two? Has the company ever gotten back to you?? o_O

I'm an Acuvue Oasys wearer too, and haven't seen any problems yet. Well, except that they feel more rigid and thicker than the average lens. Shrug.
