Default So I guess I'm not crazy...

Is anyone still having problems?
Will anyone post the lot numbers they are having issues with?

I have been wearing contacts for 20 years. I have worn Acuvue Oasys since they came out and I love them- until this month.

I went to Costco two weeks ago and got 4 new boxes of lenses. I put a new one in one eye, but left the other older lens in- it wasnt bothering me so I didnt feel the need to change it. About 2 days later, I felt like I needed to change the new lens already. This time I changed both, just to keep track of when I was changing them.
Within the last two weeks I have used ten of my new lenses. I get about a day or so and them by vision is blurry, my eyes are red and itchy. I can barely drive! When I put new ones in, I can see perfectly clear again but a few hours later they are extremely blurry and my eyes are very irritated. I have tried taking them out and cleaning them, but when i put them back in they are still very blurry and they bother me. It even looks like there is a hazy film on them.
I haven't worn makeup in days, I look like I'm stoned, and I can't see! What the heck is going on here?? Of course the Acuvue hotline is closed for the weekend, so I'm going to cancel my weekend getaway so I can visit my eye doctor tomorrow. But for the record, I'm posting the lot number of these lenses- just to see if anyone else has the same.

Hi Ouch,

Yes, I am still having issues the Acuvue Oasys lenses (I have numerous previous posts describing the specifics). Basically, like you, the lenses used to be very comfortable and now they are not. It seems to me that J&J has a quality control problem.

I have had issues with numerous Lot numbers, however, they have all started with either B00B or B009. The expiration dates have ranged between 2015 and 2016.

J&J is always helpful on the phone, but, the underlying quality control issues persist.

Please keep us informed in terms of what you learn.

When did those lenses start becoming uncomfortable, Finbar? I tried to see if Acuvue Oasys had announced something "new and improved" that might explain why they suddenly became uncomfortable for you, but didn't find anything. If you can narrow it down to the spring of 2011 or something, that might help my search.

Thank you for researching this! I first noticed the problem last year in August after I ordered a new supply.

Mine are Lot L001JU68DZ and I'm contacting clearly contacts today to advise that 3 out of the box are doing the same thing. They've already given me a store credit for the other 2 and said they will look into it.

I'm glad you could get some resolution on this issue. Let us know how it turns out, okay?

So, did Clearly Contacts "look into it" yet?

Did you get over your skepticism and try that new box of contacts?

I've been wearing Oasys ever since it was available, 6 nights continous wear and new pair change every week, I've never had any problems all these years. Really...Never.

Recently, I put on a fresh pair of Oasys, I noticed after about 5 hours, vision was a bit cloudy, eyes were getting uncomfortable. I put in eye drops, and it did not help. I had to toss them out because I don't have any solution since I've been wearing them as continous wear and never had to keep any solution at home. I then had to wear 1 day Moist the next day.

Over the next few days, I bought Opti free and tried on Oasys again, and it was the same discomfort, cloudy after about 5 hours, I took them out and clean them, disinfect over night and tried to wear them the next day. As soon as I put them on, it was cloudy. Toss this 2nd pair out

Wore 1 day Moist for a few days, went to my eye dr, he said Eye Health good as expected for my age, maybe a little dry eye condition but I can continue wearing contact lens. I told him about the Oasys problem, he said I should moniter and just use 1 day moist and try again with the Oasys as he sees no eye health threats as yet.

I tried again with a new pair Oasys, 1 day, I was able to wear them comfortably the whole day, so I wore them to sleep, the next day, vision was cloudy and when I disinfected over night, the next morning, when I put them in, it was cloudy again, I tossed them out, this is the 3rd pair.

This week, I took out my Oasys every night and this is the 6th day, it still does not feel very comfortable as before when I used to wear them 6 nights continous. Now with disinfecting every night, there is no cloudy vision, but it feels kind of dryish in the eyes but still bearable with eye drops twice a day.

I read in another thread TruEye, someone mentioned about Oasys possibly had a change in material.

Any one has any experience to share or know if there is indeed a change in material for Oasys? Thanks.
Try a pair of lenses from a different batch number. Could be QC, I don't think Johns & Johnson changed the product. Contact the seller, and they will send you replacements from another batch.

Disposable lenses are manufactured by computerized machine to maintain pristine quality control. So its rare and it needs to be reported to the manufacturer. Now and again i see this crop up but Im not happy about it from an ecp point of view as lenses are medical devices.
