I am new to Lenses, been using glasses for 15 years, my lens are both -1.5 on both eyes (I am told thats very low), and my reason for glasses/lenses is things far away become blurry
I been using Acuvue Oasys for about a week now, since day one I find reading uncomfortable/hard, be checking a text on the iphone, or reading email on my computer screen or even a paper document. It's almost like my eyes cant properly focus on the text. ANy advises, should I ask my eye doc for a different type of lens ? Carlos |

Whenever someone has been wearing contact lenses for about a month or so and having problems, my first thought is that they are experiencing "growing pains." It might just be that you're getting used to wearing contact lenses. My non-professional advice would be to give yourself another week or ten days to get used to having lenses in your eyes. Those Acuvue Advance lenses will last for two weeks if you don't sleep in them. (Follow your doctor's instructions, of course.) If nothing improves by the time you go through two pairs, call your doctor and let them know what's happening. Perhaps you need to have your prescription adjusted or something. Hopefully it has an easy fix. Let us know how you're doing. Check back with us, good or bad, and give us an update, okay? I won't get offended if you say "I tried your suggestion and it didn't help." |

YES! I had the same problem as everyone else with Acuvue Oasys. I am a 25 year contact lens wearer, with 10 years Acuvue Oasys. Suddenly with a new batch of contacts I had blurry vision. I went in for a eye exam and my vision had changed slightly. I was also told that I needed to wear reading glasses, bifocals or Acuvue Oasys for Presbyopia. I tried the stronger prescription for a month. I couldn't see anything up close. I thought that I would have to switch to the Presbyopia alternatives, but then I read this website!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I tried regular (non-presbyopia) Avaira contacts instead and my vision was perfect up close and far away!!! It is possible that another brand would also work. All I know is that there is something wrong with Acuvue Oasys contacts. Maybe they are not flexible enough . . . like trying to turn on a 2x4 instead of a high performance snowboard . . . or like trying to hit a golf ball with a stick instead of a well made iron. Until they fix the defect DO NOT USE ACUVE OASYS. Also if you currently have contacts for presbyopia, don't be fooled by the manufactures defect, try REGULAR AVARIA contacts instead. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I'm glad you're seeing well these days, Kat. Was Lens 101 helpful to you at all when you had a problem?
Unfortunately in my case Lens 101 wasn't able to help with the problem but as I had a trial for a different lens and the problem improved I decided to ditch the oasys.

I think I understand what you meant now. Your post was in response to someone else's question, right? It's not as if you came here and said "I need help with these contacts lenses" and the people on Lens 101 did not give you any helpful answers, right?

Oh, no reason to apologize. I'm glad that Lens 101 helped you.

So does your story have a happy ending, KatKatKat?

So let's hope that the new lenses that katkatkat switched to are the ones that will work best.

Hi Carlos, I have been using glasses from last 15 yrs.....last week i took contact lens(Acuvue Oasys)...i started using them for 1st time.........I am a software engineer.......i work on computer all day...the words/sentences were blurry..as if some glass layer was between my eyes and computer....even when i tried harder to make the words sharper.....i was not successfulll....when i went outside i noticed that distant objects also were blurry....at first i thought that my it takes some time for my eyes to get adjusted to the lenss.....after 3 days of using i still felt the same.......... i called up my doctor....he told me that he will prescribe some reading glasses.....i m confused...........the purpose of thaking contact lens is to get rid of glasses.....and if i have to wear glasses on top of contact lens........i would better go for ONLY glasses..... is your problem solved...what should i do now................ |

Maybe KatKatKat hasn't posted back on this thread because of the confusion on this thread.
Reading the thread you'll notice that Kat was prompted to say something that was not true, then someone came along behind and stated that it was true for this poster, even after poster said it was not true. I'm not speaking for Kat, only happened to notice how confusing the thread was in that way. Have noticed Kat is a strong poster and contributed a lot on the Forum, as has everyone here. ![]() |

I'm sorry I did not express myself properly. I meant that KatKatKat was asked to make a statement that wasn't true, then someone came along and said words to the effect that they were glad it *was* true, (when it wasn't)
I'm even muddling it up now so I just suggest read post # 6 then continue to read until you get to 2 posts above this one. Anywho, it prolly ain't the first time a train got derailed ![]() |

![]() I spoke to doctors staff and told them my problem that i work on computer all day...and the computer looks blurry...Doctors staff told me to come as walkin....wheni went to see the doc last monday...staff told me that i need to wear the contatc lens at least 2 hrs before i see the doctor( i did not wear my lens that day). next thursaday i met doc...I told him that all day i work on computer and the computer looks blurry...and also the distant objects also look blurry.....He made all tests to check my sight...he said that the contcts prescribed are good.... Doc gave me three options: 1. Use reading glasses as everyone will anyways need reading glasses after 40... 2. Increase the Power of my Contact lens so that computer will be clear but distant objects will be blurred 3. Decrease the Power of my Contact lens so that distant objects will be clear but computer will be blurred I told doc that i have been using glasses from 15 yrs..and i took contacts just to get rid of glasses..it makes no sense to wear glasses on contacts...as i will be working on computer most of the day... He gave me a piece of paper and told me to hold it..it has letters in different sizes...i was not able to read the letters in smallest size............then he put some glasses on me..i was able to read...remove them..i wasnot able to read..... He then explained that our eyes are naturally NOT designed for computer...we strain ourself working on computer..trying to focus on screen.....so with contact lens i ave to focus hard to see letters clearly...and when i go out and try to see distant objects...my eyes need to adjust accordinglyy.......... I asked him if we change the brand of contact lens and see if it works( i got this feedback from forum but dint tell him about my research on internet...i thought he will be pissedoff...if i try to suggest him)...He said that it will not work...... He already gave me conatct lens for 6 months..which are covered by my insurance... What should i do now....should i go for reading glasses ..use them for 6 months...and go to a dfferent doctor and take some other brand contact lens.. Appreciate your valuable suggestions... |

I wear glasses pretty much as long as I'm awake, but when I'm working on a computer I take them off. So do you need glasses for both distance and near viewing?
I'm the same way, Metsman. I wear my glasses all the time unless I have to read or work on the computer.

Let us know how those lenses work out.

Kumarkusa,
You just don't want to wear glasses AT ALL, then? I read this a lot on the Forum, people don't want to wear both contacts and glasses, and I guess it's a valid statement. But several of us have posted that we understand (for different reasons) that even though we will wear Multifocals and will have the wonderful advantage of seeing at many different distances, that some of us are just going to need that extra help to see at a certain distance. For most of us it's closer, like reading a book closer to the face, but seems like for you, it's going to be the "computer distance". Does it seem more upsetting to you because that is how you spend a big amount of your time? What about getting the prescription that corrects so that you can see fine when on the computer and then getting glasses for distance, so you only have to put on glasses to drive home? (Does such a possibility exist? I only know of getting glasses for close up, with Multifocals, but is it possible to get them to wear over the contacts, so you can only wear the glasses to drive (for distance) ? I don't understand if that's even an option, since I am so new to this) Many people post that YES they can see all distances, and I can see them all myself, but there is a bit of straining, so I don't stress over wearing glasses part of the time. I have wondered the following: Could it be that the people who do not have to wear glasses AT ALL with their Multifocals are the "early presbyopics" who will also have to have reading glasses down the road in another 10 or 15 years? I hope you can find the way to work it (or suitable Contact Lenses) so you do not have to wear glasses when on the computer, since that seems to be most important to you. |

Okay so glasses help you read, but you also want to be able to see in the distance too, right? Maybe you could benefit from some bifocals.
