Smile Oasys and Opti free evermoist solution

Newbie here

I used to wear contacts about 5 years ago, but because I work in aircon on a computer all day, I was getting really dry, sore eyes so stopped using them. I had recently read about Acuvue Oasys lenses and decided to give them a try……….it as been a week and so far, so good!!

My question is, what is the best solution use (I live in Australia)?? When I got my lenses the optometrist gave me Easyvision solution (Specsavers brand), but I never used it. I have been using Opti Free Evermoist, but can’t find much information about it. Was wondering if this is a good solution to use with Oasys lenses and if not, which one should I be using. Would also like to hear from other people who are using Evermoist.

Thanks

Have you ever heard of the Staining Grid? I tells you which solution works best with a given brand of contact lenses. It's at staininggrid.com.

I checked it out and it seems that Acuvue Oasys works very well with a lot of different solutions, including Clear Care, Opti-free Express, and Opti-free Replenish. About the only solutions that are good, but not great, would be the store brands by Wal-Mart, CVS and Walgreens.

Thanks for the link to the staining grid……….very informative. Opti-free Evermoist is not listed. This maybe because it is quite new.

I have been using it for about a week now and it has been awful. Thought I would give it a go because it states that it keeps lenses moist for over 16 hrs, Before I started using it, the Oasys contacts where great. Could wear them all day with about a problem, even at work in front of the computer. But since I started using Opti-free Evermoist it has felt like I have had sandpaper in my eyes. By the end of the day I can’t wait to take them out. Wondering if the Hydroglide in the solutions was interacting with the Hyrdraclear in the contacts.

Now back to using Complete MPS and so far, back to normal. Don’t think I will be changing solutions again anytime soon.

Well, that's not a very good advertisement for Evermoist is it?

No it is not good advertisment, but I think it might just be with the Oasys lenses. My friend uses evermoist with Biofinity and hasn't had a problem. Could also just be my eyes.

Well, whatever it is, I hope you can just keep using Complete.

Just to update everyone........

I had to stop using Complete as well!! Looks like I have too much protein build up that a MPS can't remove, so have switch over to a perxoide based solutions......Renu Easy Sept.

So far so good

Wow, you've had it tough, haven't you? I'm glad the Renu solution seems to be working for you so far.

Well it has been over a week using the peroxide based solution and I can’t believe the difference

Can’t feel my lenses at all and they are comfortable all day even at work in the air con and staring at a computer all day. Also only have to use rewetting drops maybe once a day if that.

Would really recommend a peroxide based solution to anyone who is having problems with uncomfortable lenses. I’m using Renu Easysept.

It's always nice to get good news of good results in this forum. I'm glad you found a cleaning solution that you're happy with. When you say "peroxide based solution" do you mean Clear Care?

It is very similar to Clear Care. I can't get Clear Care where I live, but I use Renu Easysept which is very much like it.

Nice. Thanks for the Clear Care substitute for people in similar circumstances (and locations). I wonder if it's cheaper, too?

That's it! Different packaging here, but made by the same company.

I have one more question, can you use Clear Care or Easysept by itself or should you use them in conjunction with a MPS? Reason I ask is because peroxide based solutions don't condition the lenses like a MPS does.
