Hello everyone.
I am 42 and about a year ago vision went down the tubes. I was in reading glasses for a few years then ended up getting regular glasses. My RX is not super strong. Anyhow decided to try contacts. The first go at it the RX she gave me I could not see a thing so she tweaked it. Alittle better but here is my problem. My vision goes blurry then slightly normal and my eyeballs are SO DRY. Does one ever get used to them? Should this be happening or should it be crystal clear right away all the time? I have only been wearing on week but have to take out often due to blurry vision. I go back next week to talk to her about it. I am using Acuvue Oaysis? sp sorry not sure if thats the right spelling. Are these ok contacts? ARe there better ones? I don't have any special contact needs other then the strength. I can feel them in my eyes. I am sure they are inserted right and not inside out. They just don't feel right. Thanks for your help |

It may just be that they don't suit you. I wear Oasys and love them. I've tried lots of other lenses and they are by far the best for me. Not at all drying, even after a week of continous wear. But that's me! My sister wears Acuve Advanced and prefers them, but when I tried Advanced they hurt my eyes. Go figure!
I think it's just a matter of finding a lens that you like, everyone is different in that respect. But I would say that Oasys are not a 'bad' lens, they may just not be for you. Also, I have worn contacts for a few years, but even so it can still take a week or two to get used to a new brand, so you may just need to give them a bit longer. When I first stated with my Oasys my vision was a little blurry at times and I could feel the lens, now my eyes are used to them my vision is great and I can't feel the lens at all. So, in conclusion; I'd say give them 2 weeks (unless they are actually causing you pain, in which case go back to your dr) and if they still are not for you discuss other options with your dr. As you don't have complicated eyes there will be many other options for you. Don't settle for an uncomfortable lens, it is so nice to have clear vision and comfortable eyes and I'm sure with the advise from your dr you will find the right lens for you. ![]() |
