Thumbs down Dry Eyes with Oasys. Help!!! :(

Hi there, i have this problem:

I have myopia (1.5º), and for around 1 year, i' been using Biomedics 55 Evolution with 1º . I didn't feel very confortable 'cause i tend to have Dry Eye using contact lents.

Well, because that reason, one friend told me about Acuvue Oasys, so i did it a try. The fact, is that i'm suffering like never before the "Dry eye".

Is this normal??? It's not suppuose that this Kind of lents are ESPECIALLY designed for people who suffer this kind of problems?

Sorry my crappy english, i'm from Argentina.

Thanks and Greetings!

I think you need to find a lens that suits you to be honest. Just because they may suit your friend or be designed for a certain type of wearer does not guarantee a comfortable fit.

I wear Oasys and love them, and yes I have suffered from dry eyes in the past with other lenses. Being that I work on a PC for 8 hours a day does not help either. But I have to say Oasys are amazing for me. I keep them in for a full week continously and only really have to apply drops in the morning and before I sleep.

But I tried a lot of lenses before I found these, and lots of people had good things to say about them all but they didn't work for me.

So basically I'd say give them a decent try, because they are a good lens. But if after a week or 2 you still can't get used to them try something else.

Hello, okusai3000. Give my regards to Argentina. Your English is better than some I've seen here.
Did you see an eye doctor and get a prescription for those Oasys lenses? I don't know about Argentina, but here in the United States you can't get contact lenses without a prescription. If you haven't seen a doctor, I would suggest that for your next step.

Thanks for the views and the compliment! Yes, i've got a Prescription by my doctor the last week and it's correct. With the traditional glass Lents i don't have any kind of problems.

By the way, the last night, when i take out the lens, my eyes were VERY irritated and the pain persisted until i went to the bed. Actually, i'm still have pain in my eyes.

Also, i forget to tell you, that when i try to read texts my vision becomes Blurry. Apparently, i have been reading this forum and a lot of users have got the same issue. It's Very weird.

Hmmm . . . that doesn't sound good. Maybe you should contact your eye doctor about that pain and blurry vision. It may just be that you're not used to the lenses yet, or maybe your doctor can adjust something and make them more comfortable.

Well, i went to talk with the seller and He said me that he didn't put attention on my "BC", and that would be the cause of my problem. In compensation, he gave me a pair of Acuvue 2 with better BC.

The goodies:
*I can see clearly now. Good bye Blurr.

The baddies:
*i'm still don't feel confortable with the lents.

So, i'm gonna try another brands and see whats happen.

Thanks to everyone who participated!

OK, who was "the seller" who "didn't put attention on your BC"? Were you dealing with a medical doctor? That sounds like a pretty "rookie" mistake. I think any eye doctor who has had any kind of education would check the base curve.

Acuvue 2's and Acuvue Oasys contact lenses are not available in the same base curves. Acuvue 2's are available in 8.3 and 8.7; Acuvue Oasys are available in 8.3 and 8.8. Some people can handle the slight difference, some people cannot. It sounds to me like that may have been an issue with you and that you really are now in a "better bc" for your eyes.

As for the dryness, what type of solution are you using? That may be a factor as well. You might want to experiment with different kinds.

Good luck!

Yeah, I'm not sure if the goodies and the baddies balance out. If I had to decide whether to wear slightly uncomfortable lenses which gave me sharp vision or comfortable lenses that gave me slightly blurry vision, I'm not sure I could decide. I'd say "can't I have both?"

Well, okusai3000. How about it? Do you think the base curve made a difference? Have you found a solution that works for you as well?

I think this is one of those times when we just think happy thoughts and imagine okusai3000 living happily with comfortable contact lenses and sharp vision. The End.

I think you might have something there. Maybe okusai3000 went and got some contact lenses from a real doctor and everything's fine now.
