Hello,
I found this forum because I wear the Oasys contact lenses and honestly I hate them. I am far sighted in both eyes, the right more severe than the left. My prescription is +2.25 in the right eye and +1.25 in the left. When the contacts are brand new out of the package they seem to work reasonably well; my vision is mostly good. By the next day everything is blurry, up close and far away. Once I take them out it's actually a lot better. I've tried cleaning them, rubbing, etc. Nothing seems to work. It seems they are ok for just about a day.... So when I first got them I asked my doctor about the blurriness and she said that it was common for far sighted people to have blurry vision with contacts and that there was nothing she could do about it. To demonstrate this, she held up a lens one strength higher and lower to my eye while I read a chart; there was no change. Now, it seems to me that there must be far sighted people out there wearing contacts who are perfectly satisfied with their contacts... aren't there? All my friends are near sighted, so I have no one to ask.. So after reading a bit in this forum, I see that there are other's who can't see very well with Oasys lenses. Could this be my problem? If it is, then what on earth do I do with all the unopened lenses that I now have? David |

I must say that I find your eye doctor's explanation puzzling. I agree with what you said about their having to be people out there who get good vision with Oasys. However, when I went to a website where people give their reviews, this is what I read: "Really bad" "Not comfortable at all!" "Miserable!" "Oasys Didn't Work for Me" "Horrible lenses manufactured by Lucifer" The advice that's generally given here is to give them a little more time. Maybe it's just a matter of getting used to new lenses. If you have any contact lenses left that you don't want after this experiment, I'm afraid there's not much you can do about the unopened lenses. You're kinda stuck with them. I wish I had better news for you, but I hope this post was at least informative. |

Oh, I've had them for a couple of months now. I wear them now and then these days, but mostly have reverted to my glasses in which I see perfectly. Of course being far sighted, my glasses magnify my eyeballs and make me look ridiculous!

Oh, I'm sure you look fine, davidm, but that doesn't mean you should stop looking for a suitable brand of contact lenses that you don't hate.

One question that I still have is: Is it possible for far sighted people to have great vision with contacts? My doctor told me that far sighted people have to put up with a bit of blurriness. This seems crazy to me.

I would think that this being the 21st century and all that you should be able to find a pair of contact lenses that allows you to read and watch TV with equal clarity.

Good job, davidm. Keep up the good work.

but it does take practice in all areas of wearing them from insertion to removal to getting used to using drops for dry eyes, or certain solutions for storage, and your doctor being willing to tweak your prescription. Good Luck DavidM ![]() |
