Default Red, painful, irriated eyes

Hello everyone!!

After browsing through this forum, I noticed many helpful tips and responses so I figured I'd put my problem out there to see if anyone had a similar experience or any suggestions.

I've been wearing Acuvue Oasys lenses for about 8 years with no problems whatsoever. Out of the blue a few weeks ago, my eyes were burning, irritated and bright red. I went to a walk-in clinic thinking I had pink eye and I received drops for an infection.

Turns out it wasn't an infection and I waited a week to put my contacts back in and the same thing happened again. About 3 hours in and it's all red, painful and irritated again. I went to my eye doctor and she told me to take PATADAY drops for three days and that I'd be fine.

I waited the three days and put my contacts back in today and it's back again worse than ever. The white part of my eye (left eye only) is so red and it stung so much after removing the lens. I have now decided to wear glasses for another week to let it calm down, as it takes a few days to feel better when this happens. Even with the glasses in now, it feels almost as though there's a contact in backwards in my left eye.

I've decided to try clear eyes, based on what I've seen recommended on here and I really do appreciate any helpful comments or suggestions since this problem is driving me crazy!

Hi there, nkottmann23. I wish you came to us with a happier story, but we'll see what we can do to arrange a happy ending.
You should probably tell your doctor that your eyes are still sore. Maybe you need a little more time with the Pataday drops. That's just a guess, so talk to your doctor and maybe stay away from that walk in clinic if you develop eye issues again.
