Hi,
I've heard that Acuvue Oasys is pretty good for a weekly disposable contact lens, but it can leave the wearer with dry eyes. Kind of ironic coming from something called "Oasys." Maybe that's why it's not spelled "Oasis." Anyway, has anyone found that Acuvue Oasys does NOT give them a feeling of dry eyes? Maybe someone has found something they like better. Let me know. Thanks. Last edited by Tonythetiger; 05-29-2009 at 03:40 PM.. |

I can't speak from personal experience, but I do know that I read something about a contact lens called Biofinity. The article said that if you're having trouble with you eyes feeling dry when wearing the Acuvue Oasys contacts, then you should try the Biofinity.
I hope that helps Tonythetiger. Maybe someone else can tell you from experience on this forum. |

Your original post was from quite awhile ago. Are you having good luck with those lenses? I've got dry eyes and am doing pretty well in Proclears.

hi,,i agree with HMBgal i had good luck with the proclear as well ,,ever thought of trying a RGP lens? they do not take moisture away from the eye like a soft lens does ,just a suggestion

The conventional wisdom is that RGPs are good for dry eyes, but boy, I tried for 6-8 weeks and couldn't use them at all. I'm wondering if I was sensitive to the material in the lens. The optometrist tweaked the prescription for me a few time...amaaaaazing vision correction, but he didn't try a different material. I even went on Restasis, omega oils, hot compresses, you name it. Are RGPs all made of the same material?

no they are not ,,i had to try several diff pairs before i found one that was comfortable enough for me to wear, and i agree i think i was sensitive to the diff type of silicone/material etc of the lens,, well good luck

Yes, that's right. I could see beautifully, for about 20 minutes. My eyes would dry out to the point that the lens was not floating on the tear film. The spots that were dry made it look to me like I was looking through a rainy windshield. They were so uncomfortable that I would have to take them out. I'm using Proclears and while they are comfortable, I don't have very good near vision correction at all. I'm in the strongest add that they make. The far vision is about 20/40, which is the legal requirement for driving in CA. When this year's supply is up, I will be trying out something else....something with a stronger add, but that will still keep at 20/40 for distance. Why do you ask?

![]() Please keep us posted in your progress, okay? Meanwhile, do you wear eyeglasses or sunglasses? Maybe you can answer some of the questions from those categories in Lens 101. It seems everyone's just answering the contact lens questions. |

I do wear progressive trifocal glasses, but not fancy sunglasses. I will check out the eye glass forum, though. I am VERY experienced at those. |

Tell us about them, rfriel. Don't be shy. When you say "3rd Gen SiHy" you mean "third generation silicone hydrogel" right? Are Acuvue Oasys an example of third generation silicone hydrogel contact lenses? If not, there's a section for Biofinity you can post in.
