I used Acuvue Oasys for many years with clear vision, then as my vision changed the Acuvue Oasys was no longer able to provide both near and far sightedness. Everything up close was blurry. My doctor told me that my only choice was to wear reading glasses, bifocals or Acuvue Oasys for Presbyopia. All of these are inconvenient and only partially effective. Then I read about the greater range of vision provided by Avaira Lenses. Many people are having blurring issues with Acuvue Oasys which are cured by changing to Avaira. I mentioned this to my Optometrist and he had never heard of this and he didn't believe it . . . "you can't believe everything you read on the Internet." After some discussion, he decided to humor me with a trial pair of Avaira. I put them in and it was like night and day. Everything was crystal clear up close and far away! The optometrist retested me with them in and was completely shocked! I am now using the Avairas and have perfect vision. |

I wore Acuvue Oasys for 10 years and my vision changed slightly. I got a new higher prescription and I could no longer see up close without reading glasses. I was told that reading glasses, bifocals and/or Acuvue Oasys for Presbyopia were my only options. I did some research and went back one month later. I was given an IDENTICAL prescription of Avaira and I COULD SEE UP CLOSE AGAIN ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Give it a try. If you wear reading glasses and wear Acuvue Oasys, get rid of Acuvue Oasys and your reading glasses and switch to the same prescription of Avaira. You will SEE the results. |

I hope Finbar is comfortable. I thought things were settled.

Either that or so unsettled thay Finbar is unable to log in to Lens 101. I hope you're right, Logopolis. I like your version of events better.

Not sure if this is the best thread for my question or if I should start a new one.
I am 45 y.o. and have worn a small prescription of -1 for distance for many years. I have been wearing mostly contacts and prefer to continue to do so. Lately I can no longer read with my contacts on. When I wear glasses I need to remove them to read. HOWEVER, I CAN READ EASILY WITHOUT MY CONTACTS OR GLASSES (which I need for distance only). I went for a new bi-focal contact lense prescription (I figured all I needed was a prescription that is clear, i.e., prescription free, on the buttom). I was given bi-focal Acuvue Oasys with a reading prescription on the bottom and a distance prescription on the top part. Problem is, READING IS BLURRY WITH THESE CONTACTS (when I can read sharply without them). I was told that I may need reading glasses in addition to these bi-focal contact lenses. For reading glasses I could have stayed with my previous -1 contacts. I keep thinking there has to be a better solution as I shouldn't need to compromize on blurry short distance vision with bi-focals. Any advice? |
