Default Can You Spot the Handling Tint in an Acuvue Oasis Contact?

If I'm not mistaken, Acuvue Oasys contacts are one of the ones that have a faint blue tint to them. If you look real close, can you see this handling tint in someone's eye and know they're wearing contacts?

If I look closely in the mirror, I can see a faint blue ring around my iris, but it's not that obvious. You probably wouldn't even notice it unless you were looking for it.

Many lenses have a faint blue handling tint, but they are to all intents and purposes not visible. If you are going to look that close you will see all sorts of other 'blemishes' on the face - the colour of the tint being the least to worry about!

Once again, you make a very good point, knotlob. Thanks for making it plain.

Thanks knotlob. I just thought of another question. The blue tint doesn't affect your vision at all does it? No blue tinge to everything, making you vaguely queasy? If that were true, no one would wear them would they?

The tint is absolutely minimal and does not affect colour perception as far as my personal experience goes. I would imagine that the brain would try and compensate automatically.

But consider sunglasses, which usually have a very heavy tint. The brain tries to compensate for these tints and most of the time, you don't even think about the colour.

The only problem I have had was with pink/red tinted ski goggles, which made it difficult to tell the difference between a blue (easy) and a black (very difficult) ski run - made for interesting skiing!

That sunglasses analogy was very helpful. Thank you.

I also found the skiing story fun to picture.

That skydiver in the background pulls the whole thing together, doesn't he?

Looking at that picture, it's not the blue food that makes me queasy, but the dead octopus. I don't eat anything with tentacles. I've got a rule . . .

Do you think you could put a picture here so we can all see the faint blue ring around your iris? We'd be so grateful.

I promise you can keep your identity. Besides our Iris Identification Computator Thingee is on the blink anyway. I think it's got a bad motivator.

I wonder if the fact that you're looking through the tint itself helps you to see it better in the mirror?

I don't know what's less appetizing, the dead octopus or that blue stuff.

That's the nice thing about being the guest of a vegetarian. The worst thing they can feed you is some strange plant, and how bad can that be?
