I am a new contact lens wearer. I have had my ACUVUE TORICS for about a week now. I started wearing them day one for 4 hours and have increased my time by an hour each day as directed by my doctor. Problem is my eyes are very uncomfortable. From the minute I put them in I can feel them rubbing against my eyelids every time I move my eyes left or right. Its not painful, just annoying. The real issue is around hour 3 or 4. My eyes get dry or rather the contacts get dry and the sensation of them rubbing against my lids intensifies. In addition to that I get a prickly feeling like I have fine sand in my eyes. Around hour 7 or 8 the lenses feel like they are sticking to my lids and my right one often gets thrown off its axis and I loose focus. My doctor advised against using eye drops for the first 2 weeks so I have taken to putting drops of multi purpose solution in my eyes every few hours.
Is this just the “breaking in” period? If so, how long does it last? Im sure its different for everyone but I would have expected to see some improvement by now. To the contrary it appears to be getting worse. I was thinking of asking my doctor about switching to the Advanced for Astigmatism (if possible). Does anyone have experience with both types? Is one more comfortable than the other? Unfortunately I must use a J&J lens (for reasons I'd rather not mention) so I'm limited to their products that serve my condition. |
