Default clear care question

I am soaking my lens in clear care, but i always have to rinse my lenses for one reason or another, like maybe it didn,t feel comfortable or maybe something gets on the lens just before i put them in my eyes , what do most people use in that case? Should i use opti free? or something simular?

I've never used Clear Care so I'm a little confused. Aren't you supposed to rinse them before you put them in your eyes? After they've been soaking in that little basket thing for however long, aren't you supposed to rinse them with saline or something before you put them in your eyes?

I don,t know I have not used clear care, so I was wondering what most people would recommend.

I think a lot of people on this site would recommend Clear Care. It seems to do a really good job of cleaning contact lenses.

As for the rinsing question that Niner asked, here's what clearcaresolution.com says in the Frequently Asked Questions section:

Why do I have to wait 6 hours before I can wear my contacts again?

The Clear Care solution needs time to clean and disinfect your lenses. During the 6-hour soak, the solution is neutralized and becomes a gentle saline solution—making it safe for you to insert your lenses. If you don't wait, and insert your lenses too early, you'll feel burning and stinging.

So, yes, you'll have to wait six hours before you can wear your contacts again, unless you enjoy a burning sensation on your corneas.

It doesn't sound like you need to rinse them when they're done cooking.

Yeah, the waiting comes during the actual cleaning and neutralizing process. Then you're good to go.

Default Clear Care

It's not necessary to rinse the lenses before inserting them IF they have soaked for at least 6 hours. If not, you will have to rinse them VERY WELL before inserting them, I would avoid doing that. Peroxide BURNS like hell.

If you need to rinse your lenses in between cleaning cycles for some reason, you could use any multipurpose solution or simply saline solution since rinsing and reinserting them give the solution time to clean/disinfect them, so why waste money on MP Solution? Buy the cheaper saline just to rinse.

That sounds like some good advice, cxwatts. Would everyone else agree?

The special case that comes with each bottle of clear care is designed to neutralize the peroxide. There's a silver disc at the bottom. DO NOT USE A FLAT CASE! it takes about 6 hours. If you remove the lenses too early and insert them, u end up with peroxide in your eyes, which burns like crap and will give u red eyes for hours on end. Not recommended unless u like pain! LOL!

Right. Pain in the eyes. Got it.

Does that "special case" look something like this?

Yes, that's the case that comes with every clear care bottle. Open a new bottle and throw the old case out!

That sounds like a good idea. Is Clear Care expensive?

No more than other solutions but it's better, in my opinion, as long as you follow directions.

Thanks for answering so fast.

I've heard a lot of good things about Clear Care around here. Can you buy just a part of it, like just the little basket, or do you have to replace the whole shebang after a while? How long is "a while," typically?

I go through about a bottle a month. Yes, u'll have to replace the whole set every time, bottle and case! Eventually, the disc in the case will become inactive if u use it too long and trust me - u DON'T want to get straight peroxide in your eyes. OUTCH!!!!!!!!

Does the disc look different after you've used it a number of times? Does the color fade, or does it start to dissolve after a while?

FYI never buy the bonus kits where u get two bottles with one lens case...NOT good.....Not sure why CV does this....One 360ml bottle is only really good for one lens case.....

the disc takes on a whitish metallic look approaching the end cycle of daily use....

One 360ml bottle if used dailiy will last approx 31 days!

I don't quite follow you. Are you saying the disk gets used up before you finish the second bottle?

. . . and when you say "one 360 ml bottle is only really good for one lens case" do you mean the bottle that you clean you lenses in with Clear Care, or one of these storage cases?

According to CibaVision, that's not quite true. I contacted them to inquire about the same thing (2 bottles - 1 case). I was told that one case is good for approx. 100 uses but they recommend changing it with each new bottle or bottle set to make sure their customers change their cases often enough. I wanted to know if there was a way to buy just the case if I ever break one. Nope, not sold separately but I will receive a free travel kit and case to keep as backup in the event of breakage.

If using clear care, DO NOT use a "flat" lens case like the one shown above. It will not neutralize the peroxide in clear care and it will BURN pretty badly. Use the case that comes with the clear care bottles only!

Right, the cylindrical one near the top of the page is the Clear Care case.

yes u b right...the neutralizing disc in the lens case is really good for ONE 360ml bottle of clear care....I have found personally and reported from my patients that if u buy the 2 bottle package...u may experience burning because by the time uuse the second bottle the disc is starting to wear out.
