I was reading about how some contact lens websites charge less for lenses like Acuvue than others. I learned that the less expensive companies buy their contacts direct from the manufacturer. Johnson and Johnson, in the case of Acuvue. The others buy their Acuvue contacts from distributors. That sounds fine and dandy, but the thing I read called the distributors the "gray market." That sounds kind of spooky and sinister to me. That sounds to me like the "black market" where items are often obtained illegally. Is there anything fishy about the "gray market" or is it just one of those phrases that aren't as bad as they sound? Thanks.
