Hi
I've been wearing hydrogel lenses for many years - one normal, and one toric. At my last checkup my optician recommended I try silicone hydrogels and gave me a pair of Air Optix to try. The right eye (normal) was great. The left eye (toric) felt slightly uncomfortable, as if there was always something in my eye. So I went back and they swapped the toric Air Optix for a Sauflon Clariti. She said the oxygen permeability of the Optix was 120, and the Clariti had less silicon, so was more flexible and could be more comfortable. The oxygen rating was 60 (my old hyrdogels were 20 apparently). So I tried it and it was more comfortable, but not as much as the Optix, and it was slightly blurry. I went back and she said they didn't have the axis quite right and would fix it and get my 3 pairs of the Clariti. They said I couldn't mix and match the Optix and the Clariti, so I would have to have two of the latter. So I've been wearing my new lenses for 2 weeks and they're ok, but the toric one isn't still quite right. I can't see as well the right and it's not quite as comfortable. Now, out of interest I tried the old non-toric Optix right lens in my supposedly astigmatic left. Result - the comfort is great and my vision is perfect. I've been wearing toric lenses in my left eye forever and no toric lens has ever been quite as comfy as the right. I'm sitting here with two plain right lenses in both eyes and everything's perfect. My prescriptions are as follows: RIGHT BC 8.8 Diameter 14.1 Power -4.75 LEFT BC 8.7 Diameter 14.4 Power -3.25 Cyl -1.25 Ax 180 What do you think I should do? If I go back to the optician she'll say I have an astigmatism and shouldn't be wearing non-toric. |
