Default Air Optix Aqua Life Support

I was kind of surprised to read on another site that someone who claims to be a doctor gave some iffy advice that even a non-doctor like myself spotted.

Boy, if you can't trust a faceless stranger on the Internet, who can you trust?

Anyway, this "doctor" advised someone to keep on wearing their two-week contact lenses as long as they didn't hurt, basically.

That's terrible advice. If you wait until your eyes hurt to change your contact lenses, it may be far too late.

So here's my question. If you wear your contacts for two hours, is that considered one "day" out of the seven to fourteen that Air Optix Aqua contacts are intended for?

That is a great question! I have seen different articles written with different opinions. Example – Lenses that are designed to wear overnight, their surface breaks down more quickly if taken out daily. Their point was that the more manipulation of the lens surface quicker the contact lens surface will break down. Leaving them in was better for the contact lenses than daily removal. I am not sure if I totally agree, but it gives a different view point that I was use to. I have had patients that do fantastic leaving them in for 30 days and I have had patients that do terrible leaving them in their eyes. Tough choices no perfect answer.
Some would consider that, 2hr worth of wear, 1 day of the 14 and others would consider it only 2 hours.

You have patients, so does that make you an eye doctor? I think it would be great to have an actual doctor answering questions here.

That's a good answer, even though it's a bit complicated. I remember my chemistry teacher asking the class a question about some kind of chemical reaction. I was trying to decide on an answer when he said "The answer is two words. 'It depends.'" That happens in chemistry and in life.

Talking Recommended wearing time

For Acuvue Oasys contact lens, the recommended wearing time is 7 days extended/overnight wear or 14 days daily wear. if touching or handling the lens damages the lens surface or other properties, then the above manufacture recommended wearing times would be reversed. no?

I don't understand what you mean by "the above manufacture recommended wearing times would be reversed." Do you mean 14 days extended/overnight wear or 7 days daily wear? How could that be?

That's what it sounds like, Nichobec. According to AirOptixContactLenses, an eye doctor, he/she has heard that handling your contacts breaks down the structure more quickly, so the schedule becomes 14 days overnight wear (Leave them in.) or 7 days daily wear (Take them out each night). Isn't that right?
