There are probably lots of people who are exploring this site because they're thinking about getting contact lenses.
Hello out there. ![]() Now for those of you who have worn contact lenses for years, can you please assure these nice people that nothing bad is going to happen when that Air Optix Aqua contact lens touches their eyeball? |

Relax, you're fine. Air Optix Aqua are 1-2 week contact lenses, which means that if you don't sleep in them, they'll last for two weeks. If you DO sleep in them, they'll only last a week, so for one, it's fine to sleep in these as long as you don't sleep in the same pair for more than six nights. Secondly, if for some reason you woke up and your contacts were gone, they very probably fell out; because of the way your eyes and eye sockets were put together, it's completely 100% impossible for your contacts to go behind your eyes. The only way it could happen would be for your contacts to somehow get forced through the membrane that surrounds you eyes, and I doubt if you would sleep through that. They probably just fell out. If you can't find your contacts on your pillow or someplace nearby, they may have worked their way under your eyelids, in which case a sympathetic friend or parent can help you find it and fish it out. Worst case scenario, you go to the Emergency Room and an eye doctor will probably get it out in about five minutes. Feel better? ![]() Last edited by Pudgefisk; 09-26-2008 at 08:47 AM.. |

I recently got these contacts, and my eye doctor told me I could wear them for 4 weeks. Maybe they improved the contacts for longer wear? |
|

|
So you're saying that these contacts will last a month if you take them out each night?

Interestingly, when I did a search for them on lens.com, I found them listed under monthly contact lenses, but on the page itself it says "Air Optix Aqua lenses are recommended for daily wear or up to six nights of extended wear, as determined by your eye care professional for the optical correction of vision in persons with healthy eyes." Up to six nights. That sounds more like a weekly lens to me. Last edited by Lens 101 - Administrator; 12-02-2009 at 09:42 AM.. |

There are different types of Air Optix lenses:
- Air Optix Night & Day Aqua (30 days continuous wear, replace every 30 days) - Air Optix Aqua (up to 6 nights continuous wear, replace every 30 days) - Air Optix Astigmatism - Air Optix Aqua Multifocal |

Very true, sbam. I believe that this thread is specifically about Air Optix Aqua, though.

I just pointed it out so that those looking at different websites are aware that there are multiple lens types with "Air Optix Aqua" in the title. That could be why there is some confusion about the length of time they can be worn continuously.

Air Optix Aqua = "Air Optix Aqua lenses are recommended for daily wear or up to six nights of extended wear, as determined by your eye care professional for the optical correction of vision in persons with healthy eyes." I couldn't find anything called "Air Optix Aqua Multifocal", Raidernation, but this is what lens.com said about Air Optix for Astigmatism and Air Optix Aqua. |

So if I get the Aquas, then I can wear them night and day for 6 days before I do what? Then I clean them, leave them out for a day or so then put them back in for a 6 day stretch again? I don't understand. The night and day's cost about $20 more a box than the aqua's.

That cleared things up about the 6 day thing. I can handle every 6 days for a rest and put them back in. I find it very hard to take out and put lens back in. I think its because I can't get my lids open enough to get them in comfortably. Never have gotten the knack of it without gouging my eyes out. I've worn two other brands over the last 4 years wearing them for 30 days with no problem. I asked the retail place what the best ones were for wearing overnight and they said Air Optix.. better eye flow. The Day and Nights are so much more and I need to save money big time. Thanks for your reply

It is my understanding that 30 day daily lenses have to be taken out every single day to be cleaned. I just got some samples of the Air Optix Aqua and will be trying them tomorrow for the first time. I will take them out and clean them tomorrow night and start all over the following day. I haven't seen anywhere that they are "extended" wear (meaning overnight). I have had extended wear and usually those type of contacts are very clear about how to wear and clean.

Never wear the contact lenses any longer at a time than you would wear your socks and underwear. If you would wear them 30 days at a time without taking them off and cleaning them, the get yourself some Night and Day lenses.

The best thing to do is to ask the doctor who actually has examined your eyes how long you can wear those contact lenses and how often you should clean them. Everyone is different and what works for me may not work for you. I don't suppose it will do any harm to clean them each night, however. Lens.com says "Air Optix Aqua lenses are recommended for daily wear or up to six nights of extended wear, as determined by your eye care professional . . . " Now you have seen it. ![]() |
